Compile error "iproute2"
Hi, I am trying to compile "iproute2" (iproute2-2.4.7-now-ss020116-try.tar.gz, inclusively the latest HTB patch, activated diffserv components) on a SuSE-Linux 8.2 system (using "gcc 3.3", system based on "glibc 2.3.2"). It is no problem as long as I use the kernel header files of linux-2.4.20 (vanilla), linux-2.4.20.SuSE (special kernel patched by SuSE, shipped

Drupal/MySQL performance in Xen and OpenVZ
Hi, We are considering a transition from OpenVZ to Xen for our web server infrastructure. The primary task performed by the virtual servers is to run a number of Drupal sites with a MySQL backend. The webserver and MySQL servers are on separate virtual hosts. We also have a number of smaller hosts running on the same hardware (a couple of dev-servers, a logging-and-monitoring server, a secondary

default mail quota when using per user quota
Hello, using dovecot 2.1 and per user mail quota via ldap is there a way to have a default quota which gets used, if the "quota" field in ldap is not set? I tried with: plugin { quota = maildir:User quota quota_rule = *:storage=3G } userdb { args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.conf driver = ldap } and in dovecot-ldap.conf: user_attrs = dcMailQuota=quota_rule=*:storage=%$ but

Special BLAS and explcit parallel code
Hi I just read the thread on gotoBLAS, as well as the excellent vignette of gcbd. I still have some confusion and would like to ask very basic questions, hope I am not taking too much of your time. The point that retained my attention was the question of using implicit (multi-threaded blas) versus explicit (parallel code) optimisation. As I understood, the ideal would be to use a

Schema help for Studio booking app
Hi, I''ve offered to make a web based studio booking system for the university I attended to replace their old pen and paper approach and I''m having some trouble deciding on the best way to organise the database. What will happen is the students (or tutors) will log in and be presented with a weekly calendar view of the studios, along with details of existing bookings. They

system time automatically fowards in time and then comes back to normal
Hi friends, I am running Nagios 2.7-1 on Centos 5.0 32-bit hosted on Vmware ESX 4.0. I searched it on the google but I am not able to find the correct solution. I even posted on the nagios forum and they asked me to see

malloc does not return null when out of memory
We have a little soekris box running freebsd that uses racoon for key management. It's used for setting up an ipsec tunnel. I noticed that one of these devices lost the tunnel this morning. I looked in the log and saw this Jul 23 01:37:57 m0n0wall /kernel: pid 80 (racoon), uid 0, was killed: out of swap space I reproduced this problem using this code. #include <stdlib.h> int

[RFC][PATCH 1/2] Btrfs: try to allocate new chunks with degenerated profile
If there is no free space, the free space allocator will try to get space from the block group with the degenerated profile. For example, if there is no free space in the RAID1 block groups, the allocator will try to allocate space from the DUP block groups. And besides that, the space reservation has the similar behaviour: if there is no enough space in the space cache to reserve, it will reserve

Closing information leaks in jails?
Hello, I'm wondering about closing some information leaks in FreeBSD jails from the "outside world". Not that critical (depends on the application), but a simple user, with restricted devfs in the jail (devfsrules_jail for example from /etc/defaults/devfs.rules) can figure out the following: - network interfaces related data, via ifconfig, which contains everything, but the

Rake and VC++ 6
Has anybody tried the new wxruby-swig from the msvc++ command line compiler using ''rake''? The rakefile seems to depend on the wx_config method, which doesn''t exist for msw because it doesn''t have BASH to execute the shell script. Has anyone hacked the rakefile to fix this? Nick

Please note that Windows 9x clients are not true members of a domain for reasons outlined in this article. Therefore the protocol for support Windows 9x style domain logons is completely different from NT4 domain logons and has been officially supported for some time. Did you read this document? Let me know what needs to be updated and i will take care of it. Cheers, jerry
