Compile error "iproute2"
Hi,
I am trying to compile "iproute2" (iproute2-2.4.7-now-ss020116-try.tar.gz,
inclusively the latest HTB patch, activated diffserv components) on a
SuSE-Linux 8.2 system (using "gcc 3.3", system based on "glibc 2.3.2").
It is no problem as long as I use the kernel header files of linux-2.4.20
(vanilla), linux-2.4.20.SuSE (special kernel patched by SuSE, shipped

Drupal/MySQL performance in Xen and OpenVZ
...o seen tests indicating
detrimental IO performance of Xen IO [1]. Despite this, I have found several
posters [2] suggesting the use of Xen over OpenVZ when it comes to running
Drupal sites.
One of the main arguments against OpenVZ is unpredictable and variable
performance because VPS-hosts tend to overbook their host capacitiy. This is
not an issue for us since we host our own VPSs on our own hardware so we are
in complete control.
So: Is there any reason Xen may be able to outperform OpenVZ for the
webserver-setup I have described, or should I just continue to use OpenVZ?
Cheers,
Einar

default mail quota when using per user quota
Hello,
using dovecot 2.1 and per user mail quota via ldap is there a way to have a default quota which gets used, if the
"quota" field in ldap is not set?
I tried with:
plugin {
quota = maildir:User quota
quota_rule = *:storage=3G
}
userdb {
args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.conf
driver = ldap
}
and in dovecot-ldap.conf:
user_attrs = dcMailQuota=quota_rule=*:storage=%$

Special BLAS and explcit parallel code
Hi
I just read the thread on gotoBLAS, as well as the excellent vignette of
gcbd. I still have some confusion and would like to ask very basic
questions, hope I am not taking too much of your time.
The point that retained my attention was the question of using implicit
(multi-threaded blas) versus explicit (parallel code) optimisation. As I
understood, the ideal would be to use a

Schema help for Studio booking app
.... For example they may be allowed 100 hours for a recording
module using the code ''REC'' and 150 hours for extra curricular study
using the code ''EXTRA''. They will not be able to exceed this limit. Any
time booked using the ''EXTRA'' code can be overbooked by other students
using a module code such as ''REC''.
There are three years of study on the course. The second and third years
have unrestricted access to the studios but the first year students are
only allowed in certain studios.
So I figure that the details I will have to...

system time automatically fowards in time and then comes back to normal
Hi friends,
I am running Nagios 2.7-1 on Centos 5.0 32-bit hosted on Vmware ESX
4.0. The issue I am seeing on the server is sometimes nagios is
showing the below messages in /var/log/messages and as the system time
gets changed some false alarms gets generated. I searched it on the
google but I am not able to find the correct solution. I even posted
on the nagios forum and they asked me to see

malloc does not return null when out of memory
We have a little soekris box running freebsd that uses racoon for key
management. It's used for setting up an ipsec tunnel. I noticed that
one of these devices lost the tunnel this morning. I looked in the
log and saw this
Jul 23 01:37:57 m0n0wall /kernel: pid 80 (racoon), uid 0, was killed: out of swap space
I reproduced this problem using this code.

[RFC][PATCH 1/2] Btrfs: try to allocate new chunks with degenerated profile
If there is no free space, the free space allocator will try to get space from
the block group with the degenerated profile. For example, if there is no free
space in the RAID1 block groups, the allocator will try to allocate space from
the DUP block groups. And besides that, the space reservation has the similar
behaviour: if there is no enough space in the space cache to reserve, it will
reserve

Closing information leaks in jails?
Hello,
I'm wondering about closing some information leaks in FreeBSD jails from
the "outside world".
Not that critical (depends on the application), but a simple user, with
restricted devfs in the jail (devfsrules_jail for example from
/etc/defaults/devfs.rules) can figure out the following:
- network interfaces related data, via ifconfig, which contains
everything, but the

Rake and VC++ 6
Has anybody tried the new wxruby-swig from the msvc++ command line
compiler using ''rake''? The rakefile seems to depend on the wx_config
method, which doesn''t exist for msw because it doesn''t have BASH to
execute the shell script. Has anyone hacked the rakefile to fix this?

PS: I'm cc'ing this to the list so that the answer is in the archives.
I'd volunteer to help write an INSTALL doc for y'all, but I already spend
about 1/3 of my professional life on volunteer stuff, which I figure is
tithe enough -- and I'm overbooked.
