Application does not start or lacks functionalities
Following upgrading from etch to lenny (Debian Linux i386 gnome) the two Windods applications that I used either do not start or lack functionality.
Installed wine wine_bin wine_utils libwine_alsa _cms _gl _gphoto _ldap vers 1.0-rc1-1_print _sane. I have purged out completely all these file and reinstalled. Same errors below:

Ove Kaaven to wine-users
Fine, I've rebuilt the official Debian 0.9.61-2 packages on etch.
I put them up at http://people.debian.org/~ovek/wine/, you can apt-get them
by putting this into sources.list:
deb http://people.debian.org/~ovek/wine/ ./
I might not always build these in the future, though.
Worked for me,

Debian....0.9.61.... and crooked hands
Because from times of 0.9.58 version nobody makes packages for Debian, I decided to compile 61st ver myself...
Compiling passed smoothly.
But there are no Russian fonts.
In place of the Russian letters there are rectangles.
Amount of startable programs diminished notedly...
Can you explain how to manage with fonts....
What libraries are needed for complete wine compilation?...
And why

I'm using Debian potato and an apt-get'able package of 2001-03-26
from http://www.winehq.com/~ovek/
After much digging around I have a fix to offer. Well, it's not
the ultimate solution, but it'll do me for now. Maybe it'll work
for others too.
It's seems that windows applications either already know
about the adobe symbol font encodings, or some translation is
done before I...

Can't install Half-Life
Hi all,
I got problems installing Half-Life. I manage to start the Setup.exe, the
installer loads and the WAV file is played :)
Then, wine/HL hangs. There's no error msg or something, it just freezes.
I use Wine ver 0.0.2000010 (latest deb package).
Can someone help me? I checked out http://lhl.linuxgames.com and
http://www.winehq.com already...
TIA,
Tilman

Trouble with bitmap fonts
...are specific to this font. I tried wine
--debugmsg +font and got gobs of output, but nothing that seems
relevant to the problem to me. The app uses AddFontResource() /
RemoveFontResouce() to use the font. The font is fixed width.
This is Debian 2.2r3, with packaged Wine from http://www.winehq.com/~ovek/
(stable).

Can't list directory on ftp.winehq.com
Hi,
after opening the AUTH port in my ipchains filter, I still can't get directory
listings from ftp.winehq.com.
Google shows there was a bug in the ProFTPD 1.2.0pre10 which is used on
ftp.winehq.com:

Winelibs question.....
Forgive my newbness. I'm pretty fresh to Linux, but trying to port some reasonably sizable windows apps that I have written. Certainly my gui apps appear to work directly with wine. I also have stuff that makes more sense to use with winelibs.
I've had no significant difficulties setting up and compiling bits an pieces, basically just to get my orientation sorted. One of my apps is an

need help installing new Wine version on Debian Etch
I want to install a new version of Wine because the one I installed with apt-get in Debian is quite old and buggy (0.9.25).
So after doing "apt-get uninstall wine", I followed this guide (http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb), to install a newer wine version but encountered a few problems:

Fun Wine Project -- Configure Some Default Registry Entries
I've begun working on this to import some native calls into wine. More
specifically, OpenOffice.org. I'm trying to get Lotus Notes attachments to
display proper icons, and open natively with OOo.
I've come across a dilemma. I can't seem to "easily" open a Windows path,
