Hi In the vorbisfile API Overview, section 'File Information' on the Documentation page (http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/doc/vorbisfile/fileinfo.html) The 'ov_bitrate_instant' is said to return -1 if at the beginning of the bitream or no new information is available.
