using smbadduser non-interactively
...there is a was to use smbadduser in a
non-interactive mode and just allow you to enter all of the
particular user information on the command line?
I need to set up a small script that will automate adding users to

OpenOffice 641c and Wine
Hello All,
I am new to using wine on my Linux redhat 7.2 so please forgive the
dumb questions, ok.
I have been able to run a few of my Windows Applications from wine as
a test, but ran into problems when I wanted to try a test and install
OpenOffice 641c.
I am getting messages like:

bash-2.05$ wine c:\\install\\setup

smb.conf file. that came with the rpm install.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on here and how
I might be able to fix it?
Any ideas on the configuration setting would be greatly appreciated.

Asterisk and SER differences
Hello All,
I have been trying to do a lot of reading lately on the Asterisk project,
and I would like to know of someone could tell me mor about the PRO's and
CON's between ASTERISK and SER?
I have heard that some people use them both in a particular VoIP design
and I would like to try and understand why you might want to do that along
with how the two can work totegher and communicate.

Zaptel Needed
Hello All,
Can someone please tell me about Zaptel?
Is it only needed if you are going to have an interface card like TDM400P
installed on the Asterisk server?
Do you really need it if you do not have the interface card?
Thanks,

mapping a directory
...easily map a Linux directory to a Windows drive, but I actually
have a need to be able to map a linux directory to windows
subdirectory. About the only way that I can currently think of that
might work would be to use a symbolic link on the Linux subsystem.

winver & managed question
...dows?
Also, if I set "--winver nt2k" then does this mean that Wine will
look for the specified directories in my /wine-c directory laid out
the way that they actually are specified on a real Windows NT/2000
machine?
That would be great if it did.

It seems that WINE will not look for the needed files in the current

Any ideas what is going on here?

simple over view of the process
Hello All,
Please forgive the lack of understanding as of yet but I have been trying
to follow the mailing list messages over the last few days and would like
to know if someone could wither point me into the right direction or
possibly give me a brief overview of the complete process.
Basically, I see that the Asterisk PBX systems can run on linux and seems

VoIP Providers and Backbone Servers
Hello All,
Well, my explorations in to the world of VoIP is proving fruitful and in
the near future I am hoping to have my small VoIP online service up and
running ready to help promote the industry and hopefully gain a few
customers in the process.
Additionally, I will soon have my IAX and SIP softphone ready that will
handle video, audio, and text communications.
I am looking for quality and

filtering user files
Hello all,
I think that this is probably an easy question so I hope that I will be
able to get a quick response.
In our users directories, there are a number of "dot" files and folders
and I was wondering if there was a way to tell Samba not to show them
when a user is in their directory? Maybe some sort of file filter perhaps.
thanks

Designing Tinc with Threads and Groups
Hello All,
I have been trying to get a feel for the Tinc sources because I would like
to see about developing a version of Tinc that uses threads and also
incorporated the idea of groups so that when a user starts up their daemon
they can join one or more groups.
I know that you can establish multiple "networks" on a single daemon, but
from what I understand, you also have to have

Samba and Linux Passwords Backend
Hello All,
I am sure that this has been asked probably a million times on this
list, but for our particular setup, I need to see if there is a way to
have Samba authenticate its users based upon the Linux accounts password
file?
The reason is that we have other applications all working together and
most of them are also using the Linux password file which make the
