Does SQL group by have a heavy duty equivalent in R
...AY_ID ORDER BY Count(RawSeq.rownames) DESC; This way I could easily use the minimum and maximum values to see if they were discordant. Microsoft Access handled it with aplomb. I plan to use RODBC to bring the result of the SQL query back into R. This is the first time I have seen Microsoft Access outpace R. Is my observation correct or am I missing something. I would much rather perform all data manipulation and analyses in R. -- Farrel Buchinsky [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Re: [PATCH nbdkit 0/7] server: Implement NBD_FLAG_CAN_MULTI_CONN.
...sh request will complete (regardless of which connected client made it) prior to any other client being able to make progress on a request that would need to see the results of the flush. Only when we get to SERIALIZE_REQUESTS or PARALLEL can we have the situation where one client's request can outpace the flush operation in another client. -- Eric Blake, Principal Software Engineer Red Hat, Inc. +1-919-301-3226 Virtualization: qemu.org | libvirt.org

Finding lshw and flash-plugin or alternates
Dear CentOS Gurus I have been using "repoforge.org" primarily to obtain two RPMs, "lshw" and "flash-plugin". I recently realized that "repoforge.org" should not be used, as it has had no updates for a long long time. But, when I search for the RPMs within the repos: base centosplus contrib epel extras updates the lshw program is nowhere to

I believe the answer here is _no_: Imagine a plugin which serves different data on different connections, ie. complete different data, such as a "roulette" plugin which selects a different disk for each handle. Such a plugin is of course insa...

[PATCH nbdkit 0/7] server: Implement NBD_FLAG_CAN_MULTI_CONN.
First thing to say is that I need to do a *lot* more testing on this, so this is just an early peek. In particular, although it passed ‘make check && make check-valgrind’ I have *not* tested it against a multi-conn-aware client such as the Linux kernel >= 4.9. This implements NBD_FLAG_CAN_MULTI_CONN, described in the protocol doc as: "NBD_FLAG_CAN_MULTI_CONN: Indicates that

TODO list for qemu+KVM networking performance v2
As I'm new to qemu/kvm, to figure out how networking performance can be improved, I went over the code and took some notes. As I did this, I tried to record ideas from recent discussions and ideas that came up on improving performance. Thus this list. This includes a partial overview of networking code in a virtual environment, with focus on performance: I'm only interested in sending

Attacks on ssh port
Hi, Is there a security problem with ssh that I've missed??? Ik keep getting these hords of: Failed password for root from 69.242.5.195 port 39239 ssh2 with all kinds of different source addresses. They have a shot or 15 and then they are of again, but a little later on they're back and keep clogging my logs. Is there a "easy" way of getting these ip-numbers added to

[xen-unstable] Commit 2ca9fbd739b8a72b16dd790d0fff7b75f5488fb8 AMD IOMMU: allocate IRTE entries instead of using a static mapping, makes dom0 boot process stall several times.
Hi Jan, After commit 2ca9fbd739b8a72b16dd790d0fff7b75f5488fb8 AMD IOMMU: allocate IRTE entries instead of using a static mapping, booting dom0 stalls several times. Sometimes this results in RCU stall warnings from the dom0 kernel, hitting the "any" key, on normal or serial console, makes the boot continue for a while but it stalls several times. (It also stalls on shutdown BTW) I have

Why Are You Using FreeBSD?
Hi Everyone, This is off-topic, so please feel free to disregard it, but I'm sending it to this list in the hope that it will reach a largish number of users. I am currently looking at updating some of our advocacy material (which advertises exciting new features like SMP support), and before I do I'd like to get a better feel for why the rest of you are using FreeBSD. If you had to
