3-D plot of likelihood
Could anyone recommend a package for visualizing a likelihood function of two scalar parameters? I would prefer a three-dimensional plot similar to the kind Mathematica is known for, perhaps generated by a package not specific to likelihood. David ______________________________ David R. Hi R folks, I'd like to announce several new R users groups here in SF, LA, NYC, and Ottawa - as well as their next scheduled event. The goal of these user groups, besides gently explaining 'drop=TRUE' to the uninitiated, is to exchange knowledge, promote best practices, and spur the adoption of R for innovative applications. If I've missed any groups here, please feel to ad...

SYSLINUX talk or BOF at the Ottawa Linux Symposium 2007
Hi all, I'm thinking of doing a SYSLINUX talk or BOF at the Ottawa Linux Symposium this year. I'm right now trying to figure out which, but I'm kind of leaning toward a BOF, since I really would like to take the opportunity to get more feedback. However, if there is interest in a formal talk I might be able to do that. If so, I'd like to know wh...

IPSEC, multiple subnets and multiple road warriors, oh my! :)
...horewall 1.42 for a month on two firewalls at work and my own personal colocated server and love it. While pretty familiar with iptables, I don''t like dealing with it on a daily basis, and Shorewall certainly makes life easier. I''ve deployed Shorewall on both our Toronto and Ottawa office firewalls, and have configured a FreeS/WAN IPSEC VPN between them, and all works quite nicely. The next phase of the project involves granting access to both the Toronto and Ottawa networks to roadwarriors with IPSEC clients. This is where I''ve become a bit confused. I'...

...#39;t believe that other people haven't had this bite them. Also, shouldn't rsync continue with the other files that *do* fit into the destination, rather than dying on the first one that doesn't fit? rsync 2.6.9 on OS X. files with xattrs don't retain mtime.
I'm really excited about the recent work on extended attributes. I've compiled 2.6.9 with xattr support, and run a few tests. It seems that if I have a file with an extended attribute ( a resource fork in this case), and I run rsync -aX , the mtime is not preserved. Example: stat xattrsrc/a 234881026 2894399 -rw------- 1 admin staff 0 1048576 "Nov 10 10:03:01 2006" "Nov
