Eager loading ActiveRecord objects
I have a complex graph of ActiveRecord entities that I want to load with
one big honkin'' join query to avoid ripple loading. It''s for a report.
However :include doesn''t get me all the way there because I want to load
parents of parents (or children of children). I don''t mind doing the
SQL by hand but I''m not quite sure what to do to get the result

Bug with Postgres and/or HABTM?
Hello list,
I think I''ve found a bug in the way Rails is talking to my Postgres DB
when recording HABTM data.
My join_table looks like this:
id serial primary key,
tablea_id integer references tablea(id),
tableb_id integer references tableb(id),

When Rails writes to join_table, I''d expect it to do something like:
INSERT INTO join_table (tablea_id, tableb_id) values (123,456)

Split Validations?
I have a single table that two people enter data into. Person A creates

Person B has a separate form and she fills in additional fields and I
need to specify that some of these are required.
Since the data is all in one table and since the validations are in the
model, won''t Rails complain when person A tries to

RoR VS Rails ???
I didn''t get a chance to go to this meeting debating WebObjects Vs
Rails, but here''s a report about it:
http://desperatepundit.com/blog/cremes/technology/2006/02/15/WebObjects-versus-Ruby-On-Rails.html
I don''t get what he''s saying, hand coding the model? yeah, you COULD ...
but what about script/generate ???
And is that so what he said about security?
