...ntos.1 update
php-mysql i386 4.3.2-25.ent.centos.1 update
php-pgsql i386 4.3.2-25.ent.centos.1 update
When I ran yum update they all updated and seemed like everything was fine.
Then I found out that all of my ecommerce stores using osCommerce had an
error in the admin that could not send mail and it seemed to be isolated to
the admin until I tried to put an order through on my test store and other
live stores where the same error showed up while trying to checkout so
nobody could check out or order anything.
This is the error:

Contract Work ...
...y communicate requirements. Some of this work is moderately
fast-paced, but none of it is very difficult, per se, for an experienced Web
developer. Some of this work needs a rapid turnaround.
Initially, we''d like to transfer a few smaller tasks to establish a rapport.
The work ranges from oscommerce tasks and PHP programming to XHTML/CSS
markup to, yes, rails. We definitely prefer strong CSS knowledge, and
creating effective markup for both Firefox and IE shouldn''t be an arduous
task. I apologize again if it sounds like I''m talking down a bit, but I''m
sure many peop...

Strange problem with web-based apps
...ntly noticed it was happening. This only
happens outside my local network. I can only describe the problem.
I use OpenWebmail for webmail. I can read mail, delete mail but cannont
send mail. I uses webmin, most this I can admin remotely from this, some I
cannot such as the File Manager. I use OSCommerce. Some things I can do
from the admin panel, some things I cannot such as update inventory.
When the problem occurs, I get the error in the browser "Cannot Find
Server".
Again, this only happens from outside my local network and it only affects
some actions.
Any ideas?
TIA

Telephone support charging system with Asterisk?
Hi,
I'm interested in anybody that is providing a phone support service
using an Asterisk system, with built in charging system.
I run a PC support company and use Asterisk at the home/office. I
would like to be able to provide technical support to my customers
using asterisk. However I want to be able to charge them fairly for
this support, and with little work on my part.
My idea was for

--exclude-from works but "exclude from" in rsyncd.conf doesn't ?
I'm setting rsync up for the first time and would prefer to have the
exclude file defined in the conf file, but the exclusions aren't
honoured when I define the parameter in rsyncd.conf - although they are
when I specify the file in an argument. The server is the remote system
and both rsyncd.conf and the exclude file are the same on both local and
remote systems. I'm attaching the

Current Open Source Billing Package
After spending a couple hours scanning for an open source (non-
commercial) billing package yesterday I am underwhelmed. Almost all of
the packages listed on the WIKI appear to be defunct, for several
years now. I will be happy to get a login and edit them out if that is
the proper method to do so.
My requirements are very minimal and at this point unless I have
missed something will

Open source rails e-commerce engine?
I''m pinging the list to see if anyone is working on an open-source
e-commerce engine based on Rails yet - something like OSCommerice I guess.
Anyone? Is there interest out there for such a thing?
I have such a product which has been extracted from real world code. It
currently runs 3 production rails sites in various shapes and forms,
implemented as a rails engine.

Hosting
Hi
I am using Centos 4.3 to host various web sites that I maintain. I am
finding that I am getting more and more, and I have thought of setting up a
hosting server to make things quicker for my self. I have setup webmin with
virtualmin and it seems to work fine so far. What is everyone else using.
I don't want to invest alot of money, but would like some thing that is
quick and easy to

Drupal vs. Ruby on Rails
Hello all,
Maybe the $subj is a little bit weird (i.e. apples vs oranges) but it is
a situation i am facing at the moment: We are developing a small web
site which will be mostly a CMS (more or less) and my colleagues is
arguing for drupal, and i am for RoR.
Maybe i can formulate the question in a different way: when to use a CMS
(not necessarily drupal but e.g. Radiant CMS) and when to use Ruby

prepaid on the trunks
if i have this setup:
[sip users] -- [asterisk] --- [as5300] --- [pstn]
asterisk will talk to as5300 using sip. i will use as5300 as a trunk on the asterisk so sip users can call out to pstn.
what i would like to is do prepaid on those trunks, not on the sip users. sip users can call any other sip users . i want to do it that way coz i'm trying to build a multi-tenant pbx, and i will use

I forgot. Why do we hate* Java?
Hi,
I''ve started reading some Java books. Gasp! What makes website
development with Java so bad? I haven''t looked at Struts but I''m
reading about Hibernate. Compared to ActiveRecord, Hibernate seems
like some extra typing to explicitly define the model fields, getters
and setters. I know that these are things that you can do in
ActiveRecord when things get complicated

Asterisk Jobs
I'm curious why the number of jobs out there requiring Asterisk seems to be pretty low. After looking around dice, monster, careerbuilder etc, I was surprised to find no more than 3-4 employment opportunities with Asterisk throughout the US.
Is it really that low? There seems to be a job of opportunities for Cisco and other vendors solutions (duh... GUI's are good... duh). I wonder if
