getGraphicsEvent on X11 and event queuing
Hi R-Devel,
I've been working on an oscilloscope project using an Arduino
microcontroller board. I found that it's quite easy to get realtime
updates, e.g. 30+ frames per second, if I read data from the board in
a little Rcpp library. I have to use dev.hold() and dev.flush() to
keep the plot from flickering, which restricts me to the "ca...

Stable clock with 2.6 and without Digium hardware.
Anybody sucessfully got stable 1000Hz clock without Digium harware and kernel 2.6?
We need to consult some peoples how to clock asterisk stable with exactly 1000 Hz without much kernel/drives patching/tweaking.
Some test results we made so far:
2.6 with digium card - stable 1000 Hz.
2.6 with ztdummy - uses RTC and the clock is 1024, not 1000.
2.6 with some Realtime kernel patch - provides stable

R packages to send plottable data to external apps
I was curious what R packages, or indeed any other applications, exist
to plot streamed data from arbitrary data generators. It need not
be publication quality plotting but it should be easy to use like
an oscilloscope. I was working on something called datascope that I
am using for 1D finite difference monitoring and recently interfaced it
to freefem. I also created an R package. If there is any interest in something
like this I guess I could put it up somewhere when it is more usable
or if you can suggest som...

...could have an 'onIdle' callback, to be called somewhere in the polling
loop of gevents.c:163 - I think this would solve my problem #2 in a
minimally disruptive way.

Electronics Workbench 5.2 has misc. problems in Wine
...me work which I did using it) on Wine, mostly it works well, but:
- When I close it, it enters an Access Violation/"Internal Error" loop.
- Can't see text in some controls. For an example, check this image:
http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/2707/75952076.png
The controls in the 'Oscilloscope' window were supposed to show values.
Any ideas? Since this is an old app, I tried to set Windows version to
Win98 but it didn't help at all.
This is the latest version of Wine on x86_64 Arch.
Thanks.

Optascope port trouble
OPTAscope was produced by Parallax in 2002, but has been discontinued. It's a USB PC Oscilloscope. I used WINE to install it OK, but can't get hardware connected. Using Ubuntu 8.10. Here is how a normal windows install goes. Install software, plug in hardware, "New Hardware found", then go to Device Manager and find port the device assigned. In my case, it was port 3. Go back to O...

I believe it has something to do with input voltage fluctuating too fast maybe even beneath or over the input voltage thresholds.
Should I worry about this?
should I measure input voltage? (I suppose I'd need more than multimeter readings. Maybe an oscilloscope or a multimeter that can record statistics? - I'm no expert in this field...)

OT: Differences between test equipment
...In fact, I'm not even sure that
these are indeed the right devices for the job.
Could someone who is familiar with either of these devices tell me if they
will fit the bill? And if possible, which of these has more useful
features as telephone line test equipment? I'm handy with an
oscilloscope, function generator, VOM, etc. Will I be able to drive
either of these?

PATA Hard Drive woes
Hi All.
Yesterday I was installing Centos 5.5 to my web server, and
it looks like the main hard drive has gone AWOL.
Fedora 12 put the file system into r/o mode.
The drive is an Hitachi, still under warranty.
There are bad sectors on it, and running the Hitachi DFT
tool confirms this. Also I cannot repair the bad sectors.
Would this be caused by a faulty I/O chip, or is it safe to

Can't connect USB Serial (COM3)
Wine does great job for GUI on screen (PC Oscilloscope) But, can't USB connect to external hardware device that has FTDI 245AM chip in it. See device in /dev/ttyUSB0. See device in lsusb, also in lsmod. Did normal linking, ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 /.wine/dosdevices/com3. No luck. See the link with: ls -al of dosdevices. Using COM3 because in Windows re...

X100P Burnouts
Thought I would post this experience to the list so it's archived for
posterity... My company is deploying Asterisk-based PBX's to all of our
branch offices. Each office has 2 analog Voice lines and a fax line.
We didn't want to go to the expense of using TDM400's in the servers
(which run asterisk and Hylafax) so we opted for 2 X100P cards in each
box. So far they have

Slightly OT: Generators & UPS
Hi,
Can anyone shed some light on this:
My PC's are on a separate power circuit. Each PC has its own UPS.
I have an old Honda generator. When the power goes out, I fire up the
generator. However, the UPS's still run on battery. If I connect the
PC directly to the socket and bypass the UPS, the PC works.
I was told by a UPS supplier, that the power output from the
generator was

I have also noted an unimplemented stub (set_queue_size) which may be a
problem and I'm willing to try and work on the code, but my experience
w/Wine is limited so any more pointers about debugging?
I have some basic EE tools and can hook up an oscilloscope (up to 4
channels) to my dev boards uart if anyone thinks that would help...
Another concern of mine is if my wine com1 port is working at all... Can
anyone tell me of a good working serial port app in wine? Bray++
terminal or anything else like that?

RE: 5, 000 concurrent calls system rolloutquestion
...to find a well-connected network that rents out
a few of the better-known SIP testing tools to beat on Asterisk
installations in remote places for short periods of time. But this
has always been the case... test gear is a small market, and
expensive. Just look at the MSRP of new high-end HP Oscilloscopes if
you want to get a picture of price-gouging.

WCFXO echo rexolved for me
Hello,
I resolved my echo issue using grandstream/estara etc etc sip phones and
wcfxo interfaces from digium. I swapped out my via kt400 based msi kt4vl
motherboard for an asus p4pe? i845? based motherboard and the echo has
completly gone away along with aggressive suppressor option in the makefile.
I hope this helps others.
