Dell and pxelinux keyboard problems
...board does not work anymore ... This is a Dell OptiPlex GX620 (with an USB keyboard). The problem only occurs with the latest BIOS, A11. I have tried both A07 (factory installed) and A10 - both work fine. On the Dell homepage I found the following information about this BIOS version: "Improve OROM shadowing into BIOS" Could this be a pxelinux problem or do you (too) think that this is Dell's problem? VirtualBox version? While working on 4.10-pre, I recall cases others saw with dropped/intercepted packets and observed a race in a VM when it was using the wrong lwIP call. I was working on some verbose debug code that should help but need to port it up and finish it. --Gene

PXELINUX 4.10-pre17 and newer Dell OptiPlex/Latitude/Precision
Shantanu, let's continue here. You first noticed this on a Dell OptiPlex 755. I think it covers all Dell OptiPlex/Latitude/Precision models that are PCIe based with Intel LoM (LAN on motherboard) utilizing the BIOS PXE OROM, based on the similarity of these systems. The symptoms are that PXELINUX requests pxelinux.cfg/<UUID> by TFTP (but it might not strictly be a TFTP issue) when not on the same subnet, responses are sent back but PXELINUX doesn't receive these packets. PXELINUX also doesn't respond t...

The output of dnsmasq is clean/right in all file paths? Remember that syslinux 4.06 testcase works OK. Thanks for your time ;) [#1] https://dl.dropboxuserco...

pxelinux tries to load ldlinux.c32 from DHCP server, instead of next-server
...oftware/pxeboot/archive/pxespec.pdf ) > > sname, 64 bytes, Can be overloaded if using Opt 66 > > Hope this helps I didn't question the specification, where BOOT field sname or DHCP option 66 could be loaded with some string. I questioned if any _implementation_ (ie a PC with PXE OROM) bothers to pay attention to sname/66 before BOOTP field siaddr or if a DHCP daemon would set siaddr to 0 while setting sname/66. If the BOOTP/DHCP specifications require that siaddr be set to the first possible value of sname/66 (which I can't seem to verify with the RFCs), then using siaddr/...

Very slow download with pxelinux > 4.07 on specific hardware
Hi there, We had to setup a pxelinux on a new server (windows 2012) and used the latest release of pxelinux 6.0.2. Everything went ok on my first client test machine : dell optiplex 740. Pxe was really fast (vesamenu with large background image was appearing in less than 3 secondes) But on different client machine i got different results : On optiplex 790 (core i5 with intel 82579 nic) and

[5.10] PXE + dhcp opts 209, 210 and path issues in tftp/http
Hello, First, this setup works fine without any error in syslinux 4.06 as show below. For convenience, both versions of syslinux 4.06 [#1] and 5.10 [#2] directories (~2MB each) are uploaded ready for test. As said before, this is tested on qemu-1.5.0 + dnsmasq 2.66 in Arch Linux @ 64-bit. If more info is needed, please let me know. Good luck! Relevant directory structure is at
