Cisco 7920 Image
Does anyone know if there is a Smartnet contract or whatnot available from Cisco for access to the latest 7920 images? I've got one w/ asterisk that is exhibiting a few of the documented bugs running 1.0.3 (1.0.7 is the latest IIRC). Thanks! -- /* Ian A. BUG: ssh-agent unlinks sockets/files it doesn't own.
...ent.sock > bind: Address already in use > > [rich at goblin] sl=1 ~ > 01:05:53$ ssh-agent -a ~/.ssh/agent.sock > SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/home/rich/.ssh/agent.sock; export SSH_AUTH_SOCK; > SSH_AGENT_PID=558; export SSH_AGENT_PID; > echo Agent pid 558; The first ssh-agent survives the ordeal, but finds itself unreachable, and without purpose. I would suggest a couple of changes: 1) unless bind has been successful, don't unlink the socket. 2) teach ssh-agent to either die or rebind if his socket disappears. my pref would probably be death, as I find it more elegant than killing...

bad case of buzzing
...our central PRI-equipped asterisk. Phones are Polycom 430, 601, Cisco 7960, 7912 all to the latest firmware. We tried everything: changing the switch, network cards, auditing every network drop with fluke, re-certifying our wan, swapping some phones to no effect. Has anyone gone through that ordeal?

Tinc on 64-bit Vista
Guus, Just thoguht I'd let you know -- Tinc works fine under 64-bit Vista! Obtaining a 64-bit signed TAP/TUN driver was a bit of an ordeal. It appears that the OpenVPN guys have forked out the money to get the TAP-win64 driver signed for kernel modules. I installed OpenVPN, then installed Tinc -- no problems whatsoever. The OpenVPN installer does a check to see if it's running on 32-bit or 64-bit windows, and picks the appropri...

ssh wrapper scripts
...there are no such helpers. I spent the saturday at an install fest where a 15-year (seriously) linux veteran was struggling to remember/find the ssh syntax for making a tunnel for more than 2 hours, giving up eventually. It should be very easy (perhaps trivial) to make a script that makes this ordeal unnecessary. Pardon my ignorance, but something like: `sshforward 10000:20000`. Do the OpenSSH developers have any interest in this? Cheers, Andrew

can't connect to home share after renaming Windows user
I just went through the ordeal of renaming a Windows user account (from the previous incumbent's name to the position title, so I won't have to repeat this). Everything went smoothly. The account has access to the programs and files that it previously did. The roaming profile is being updated when the user logs out....

ices-2.0.0 compile problems
...t; = 1 ] then chmod +x $i fi done in the ices source directory. That fixed the problem altogether and ices compiled and installed correctly. Question: am I doing something wrong or are the configuration files too inflexible? I did try export CPPFLAGS=-I/usr/include before this ordeal and it didn't help at all. Z

centos 8-Streams kernel?
...ugh I?m more focused on server applications rather than on desktop (we use Macs and Ubuntu for that). When Red Hat announced Streams, I was terrified at first and my first instinct was to switch to Rocky or a similar 1:1 distro, but then thought there might be something good coming out of the whole ordeal. And indeed it did, we used to run centos on test and RHEL on live systems and having packages (especially kernel) on test a bit in front of the live systems (instead of a bit behind like with the old centos) turned out to be very useful. We were able to catch a nasty lockup bug in a series of kern...

why is zpool import still hanging in opensolaris 2009.06 ??? no fix yet ???
...vers asap again. Then set the iscsishare on the second and most important share: OK! Listed the targets: THERE, BOTH! Repaired it''s connection too: WORKED...! I am copying everything away from the ZFS pools now, but my data is recovered... fortunately. I now have mixed feelings about the ordeal: yes Sun Solaris kept its promise: I did not loose my data. But the time and trouble it took to recover in this case (just to restart a system for example taking an overnight wait!) is something that a few of my customers would *seriously* dislike... But: a happy end after all... most important da...

GPO redirected folders reg path issue
...yone following along. Personally, I'm always trying to steer away from RSAT and administering anything from windows as a whole and would much rather use samba-tool so I'm not reliant on a desktop but hey,,, it is a windows based network afterall. So now that the dust has settled (the whole ordeal was less than 15 minutes so no big deal) I'm not seeing anything spectacularly different but it will be interesting to see if I ever the issue stated in the original msg of this thread.

FreeBSD ssh AD authentication

Accordint to the Samba3 HOWTO this should return me info's for users in the domain... What am I doing wrong ? Furthermore I went through this ordeal to allow domain users to authenticate with ssh. So I've modified the the /etc/pam.conf file like this (settings for ssh) : sshd auth sufficient pam_skey.so sshd auth sufficient pam_opie.so no_fake_prompts #this line is added by me sshd auth suffi...

PRI Errors (HDLC Abort (6) on Primary D-channel)
...Grrr. Well, I never doubted the T400P too much but I went ahead and bought a different card just in case. Haven't had to use it so far. One of the biggest reasons I did not think the Wildcard was at fault is that the only the LEC PRI span would crash. The other spans stayed up throughout the ordeal. Also the errors followed the PRI no matter what port it was plugged into. For anyone else seeing these errors, here is a checklist of things to look for: 1) Run the latest STABLE or CVS release of asterisk/zaptel/libpri If your problems started after an upgrade, revert to the revisio...

Really annoying XMLRPC problem, can anyone help?
...quot;, @testserverdata) I have checked and @testserverdata is properly formed - the issue is in the call, or the kind of data it is transmitting / expecting to transmit. Does anyone have any idea how I can resolve this? I tried googling but really found nothing. Cellsocket Report Card (GSM/PCS to FXS gateway)
I recently purchased a Cellsocket, which is a cradle that holds some older Nokia GSM/PCS phones and converts them to an FXS interface. My test phone is a Nokia 5190 on the T-Mobile GSM network. After going through the ordeal of unlocking the phone (T-Mobile provided unlock codes that didn't work), I finally got it up and running. The good: - Disconnect supervision works - Outstanding sound quality - The cellsocket's antenna works much better than the one in the phone - Support for external antennas/amplifiers...

Compliments on 1.2-rc6, and a few notes
I use wine almost exclusively to run EA's Simcity 4 Rush Hour. Up until rc-4 or so, this was an ordeal as the graphics would clog, apparently due to improper handling of the paging requirements. SC4 is a legacy program written for Windows '95 in 2002/3 and after published fixes has a tolerable number of bugs, all well known. It is the only really decent city simulation program on the market th...
