Icecast 2.2 with Opticodec - dropping stream
Hello All,
We own an Orban Opticodec LE1010 and we are testing it to use with
Icecast 2.2 (no relays are used, only one icecast 2.2 is working in one
system)
With both linux and win32 versions of Icecast2.2 Opticodec with
aacplus-v2-32kbps stream generates the following errors:
several minutes (2 to 30) after starting of encoding t...

Icecast 2.2 with Opticodec - dropping stream
This sounds like a network problem.
We have several Opticodec-PC Encoders working with Icecast2.
It is a VERY reliable server.
Our EVAL stream is here:

the availability of AAC/aacPlus streaming on the Icecast lists, as well as
other streaming and codec forums. My intent is simply an Icecast2
compliant AAC/aacPlus encoder awareness issue, although I agree with you
that it is advertising.
We do have quite a bit of information in our Opticodec-PC Technical Manual
supporting the Icecast2 Streaming Server. We also have a link on the Orban
website for Opticodec-PC to the Icecast.org website. The link is as below.
The content type of audio/aac was added to Icecast2 Version 2.2, partially
due to our requests, and we very much appreciate...

ezstream grabing line-in input?... (newbie)
Hello all friends!
I have downloaded the latest ezstream (0.2.0) for Windows version, but I
have faced some issues...
First of all, on the installation process, it neither makes the desktop
icon as it says it would do, nor creates a program group folder on the
startup menu. Anyway, I try to finf on my Program Files folder and run
in DOS mode the ezstream.exe
I want to ask if I can grab the

...s using a Content Type of aacp.
Using a .aac extension with this Content Type may present a conflict.
This might actually be by design.
I will do some further testing with Winamp and report here tomorrow.
I will also double-check with the developer of Winamp for complete
clarification.
FYI, Orban Opticodec-PC allows the use of either Content Type of aac
or aacp. aac is technically all that is necessary. The history of the
aacp Content Type was to allow the stream to show in the SHOUTcast
Directory, but since Icecast streams cannot show in the SHOUTcast
Directory anyway, this doesn't matter, a...

dir.xiph.org only listing Ogg streams
Anyone wanting their AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus stream(s) listed on Tuner2,
please send request(s) with relevant information to me directly.
This is free and does not require an Orban Opticodec-PC Encoder.
This will also help lighten the load for Xiph.

AAC support?
on the download page for icecast, I can read in the icecast-2.2.0
changelog that there's support for AAC:
AAC is added as a supported streaming format Not too many source clients
support streaming in this format, but we support it.
but when looking at the source code for icecast-2.2.0, I can't find
reference to AAC anywhere. in particular, in format.c the

Icecast2 Server - AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus Support
...done an excellent job with the Icecast2 server.
I probably don't need to tell you that, but I did anyway.
We are Coding Technologies licensees and have recently developed a
streaming audio encoder supporting AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus using RTSP/RTP,
SHOUTcast HTTP/ICY, and Icecast2 HTTP/ICY, Orban Opticodec-PC.
More information here:
http://www.orban.com/orban/products/stream/1010_overview.html
Please note: The HTTP/ICY protocols have just been added, and information
regarding them is not up on the web site yet.
We are wondering about the possibility of adding AAC and AACP content types

Streaming AAC with libshout?
Hi,
I am wondering how to add AAC support to GStreamer's shout2send element.
Support for this format seems to be enabled in icecast for a while and it
would be nice if one of the major open source frameworks would have been
capable of streaming such content.
GStreamer's shout2send relies on the libshout library but it defines only
two formats - MP3 and Vorbis. There is no single word in

icecast2.2 and aac?
...not your problem.
Your stream source client (DSP) is the part who must be capable of streaming the format you want.
For AAC use oddcast DSP www.oddsock.org capabale of AAC, LAME Mp3, and OGG (Free to use) very good at OGG specially with the vorbis 1.1 aoTuVb3 DLLs
For AAC Plus (HE_AAC) use Orban opticodec for PC (witch is capable of every bitrate you want, even dolby up to 48 Channels i believe) and the orvan LE codec witch is limited to 32 Kbps 32 khz, but cheaper. (www.orban.com) sounds great uses SBR like in mp3Pro
there is shoutcast (www.shoutcast.com) only capable of streaming MP3 format, but...

Hi All,
Got today the Orban Opticodec-PC encoder LE and it sounds great at
32Kbps and 44.1Khz and even lower it sounds great!!
Now even people with dial-up can listen to FM quality streams!
Got a test stream up, if you're intrested, with some rights free (RIAA
free) music (dutch language made by a friend of mine).
