Q: Samba AD, Pfsense, Windows 10, vpn
I only have some experience with OPNsense but maybe you can relate:
- In my case it was always the certificate.?
- I had to add the cert to the system certs using CLI. Adding them in the WebGUI was not enough.
- Port 636 did not work for me, only 389 using STARTTLS
Hope that helps...

Did you try using a simple RADIUS secret? In my experience long secrets or ones containing special characters don?t work very well. I would use alphanumerical only and no longer than 16 chars.
We successfully use it to authenticate UniFi clients and IKEv2 roadwarriors (using OPNsense).
I believe you set
lanman auth = yes
as well, right?
Does Samba give you anything in the logs? That way you might be able to narrow it down?

Raspberry Pi Version of Samba?
...#39;s.
My main DC's run on some nanopc Intel J1800 (cpu) based fanless (about 5" x
5" x 2") box's that by spec sheet draws a maximum of 15W to run on full
load. As a DC they never run on full load. These boxes are actually
designed to be run 24/7 as firewall device, PfSense, OPNsense, Untangle,
etc.
I found a manufacturer that I could buy these devices without wifi radio
(in my case) but, it is an available option if you think you need it.
Sorry, not going to advertise the manufacturer name but if you search
enough you'll find them online.
That RPi was demoted and reconfi...

Hello Alexander,
thanks Alexander for these configuration snippets.
Which version of Samba are you using? Is this on debian bullseye? Is the
FreeRADIUS server installed on a DC or on a Domain Member? (I just
tested the latter).
is "ntlm auth = yes" OK for the DCs and the domain member or does it
have to be "mschapv2-and-ntlmv2-only" for all servers (DCs + Member)? It
