Finding dependancies?
...installed packages, which were present on the old head, are missing on the new head. Now I could simply try to run my script, wait for the error message, mail the administrator to install the package, try again, ... . But this is a tedious process - and I can not go to him directly, as I am sitting opn a different continent. So my question: is there an easy way (like ldd for programs), to identify the dependencies which are not met, and how could I use that on the packages? Thanks, Rainer -- Rainer M. FAQ submission: quality vs. bitrate
I would like to see the following information added to the FAQ at vorbis.com, appended to the "Audio Quality" section. "Uiver," "boa," and "jonI" from OPN's #Vorbis channel contributed and reviewed it. "What does the 'quality' setting mean?" Beginning with vorbislib 1.0-rc3, audio quality is no longer measured in kilobits per second, but on an arbitrary scale of 0 to 10, called "quality." This change in terminology...

Little list of horrors.
Hi all, I was investigating the SMB signing problems between Win2k clients and Windows XP servers and thought I'd take a look to see if there were any hotfix patches for Win2k that were post service pack 2. VMware and samba interoperability patches...
Has any progress been made about integrating the VMware samba-2.2.8a patch? VMware Inc was generous enough to add their value to this, and I think it's worth getting in. >From [http://www.vmware.com/download/open_sources.html]: http://www.vmware.com/download1/software/support/vmware-samba-2.2.8a.diff Please CC me on any replies. My adventures with Wine and Netscape
I recently installed wine-20010731, and for the past week or so I was trying unsuccessfully to get a version of Netscape (various 4.0+'s, for various win versions) to install; I needed a particular 3rd party plugin only available in .exe format. I found on google a reference from about a year ago of someone getting this to work, so I was going to post today with questions; lo and behold, last
