Openwebmail dependency problem
Ok, I have to ask. I tried to yum install the latest openwebmail (from the openwebmail repo), and got a transaction check error about a conflict with some packages which are needed by amavisd and spamassassin (packages originating from rpmforge, I think). Below is the yum output. By googling I found a lot of descriptions of the problem, but no solution. - J...

Openwebmail emergency (Perl)
After system update yesterday, Openwebmail now gives an error: > Undefined subroutine &Compress::Zlib::memGzip called at /var/www/cgi-bin/openwebmail/shares/ow-shared.pl line 1175. I tried to do perl -MCPAN -e shell install Compress::Zlib But it says Compress::Zlib is up-to-date. What do to?? I cannot find an answer by googling....

dovecot + openwebmail
...that, for various reasons, cant be fixed from the bottom up at this moment in time. The system is debian sarge, exim 4.5, doing virtual domains and delivering into mboxes in /var/spool/virtual/$domain/$user , there is webmail access and this allows user to create folders in (dont shoot me!) /etc/openwebmail/users/$domain/$username/mail/ , the files in this directory appear to be mboxes in that each mail begins with a From: line, the naming of these files is completely arbitrary. Im trying to add imap access that would ideally give users access to the mail in /var , and also in the openwebmail dirs, t...

dovecot-uidlist....
Hello Everyone: ????? Is it possible to direct dovecot to modify dovecot-uidlist automatically??? I have some user who use ancient MUA(i.e. Openwebmail) and IMAP/POP3. Since Openwebmail will insert "Status: R" in the eml file, the size of the eml file will increase by 10 bytes. If the user use Openwebmail first, then the size record(S=xxxx) in dovecot-uidlist will be fine. But if he use POP3/IMAP(dovecot) first then use Openwebmail,the...

imap locking spool?
...gh a series of archive folders. I don't want to take the whole server down to do this, nor does it seem like I would have to lock the user out entirely if I can manage to emulate the locks correctly. I am able to lock /var/spool/mail/user (and ~user/mail/*) from procmail, dovecot popmail, and openwebmail using dotlocks. What do I do to prevent dovecot imap from writing the spool and various mbox files while my script is running? Just posix fcntl on the various files? I'm trying to use Mail::Box in perl which I'm having some problems with, corresponding with the developer, but if anyone h...

review of my configuration
Over the last week I've set up dovecot and imap and imaps support. I've even tried to break it but it's been doing very well. Now I'm trying to set up a webmail interface. Rather than use the common squirrelmail, I thought I would try openwebmail. Mainly because it's written in perl, of which I am a big fan. However, I ran into some errors in openwebmail that actually may tie back to dovecot. Here's how: dovecot configuration userdb = /etc/passwd passdb = pgsql.... ---this allows me to use the $HOME, uid, gid from the passwd f...

Auto mapping to windows home drives?

problems with dotlock
I have to make dotlock work because this openwebmail thing only supports one of dotlock or flock, but procmail delivery does dotlock and fcntl. procmail correctly creates a dotlock file in /var/spool/mail/username.lock when delivering, I can watch this with `while :; do ls -la | grep lock; done`. It works fine when lock_method=fcntl, but no dotlock...

QoS for VoIP
As you are probably aware, this is a ever green topic. I have personally tried doing it, testing it and verifying it and I am myself finding this problem challenging and frustrating. Most of the scripts will recommend some form of rate limiting ( or policing ) on the download. But the challenge is how to determine the correct value for the policing ? Lot of the recommendation says use x %

Preferred mail client
Hello, again, What is the preferred remote mail client for 7.3? I have used openwebmail in the past, was using usermin and roundcube most recently. Never cared about squirrelmail but that was years ago. I don't use my server as a workstation. It mostly just sits over there collecting dust on the keyboard. TIA
