/var partition overflow (due to spyware?) in FreeBSD default install
All: I'm posting this to FreeBSD-security (rather than FreeBSD-net) because the problems I'm seeing appear to have been caused by spyware, and because they constitute a possible avenue for denial of service on FreeBSD machines with default installs of the operating system. Several of the FreeBSD machines on our network began to act strangely during the past week. Some have started to

is it safe to resize root, on an LVM system, online?
Hi, One of our servers has a too small root partition on LVM and needs to be resized. Can / be safely increased online, without a reboot? fdisk, sysinstall and 6.1-BETA3/amd64
Hi folks, I'm moving a server over to amd64 in the next week or so and I'm preparing the RAID1 disk set with the 64 bit ports as we speak. I came across a nasty little bug whilst doing so. Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-K8U with a ULi SATA controller and AR0 set up as a RAID1 array using FreeBSD pseudo-RAID (ULi's metadata isn't supported). So far, so good. Then into sysinstall

Fwd: Re: Asterisk as a Condo door opener/intercom
Asterisk as a phone system makes perfect sense in a condo. You can get all the DID's you want and eliminate costs for the owners. You can offer standard FXO for people who don't care and IP sets for people who want to "upgrade" to feature sets. Your door openner is a piece of cake. 1. Create an option in your dialplan only in the "from-access-door" context that reads

OT: SIP aware firewalls?
Hi All, Until now I've only used IAX2 to connect to ITSPs. I've been toying with a SIP connection to Gizmo Project, but not yet successfully. It brings to mind a question. At what point does it make sense to consider a SIP-aware firewall such as those from Ingate? I'd hate to move away from my m0n0wall, which is open source, easy to manage and has served me brilliantly for two
