CentOS 4.0 compatible with Dell's OpenManage?
Hi, I'm looking into purchasing a few Dell Servers and installing it with CentOS 4.1. It comes with this software called the the Dell OpenManage Software Kit for PowerEdge that allows for remote monitoring of the servers. Has anyone out there successfully installed the OpenManage s/ware? Is it compatible with CentOS 4.1? Any opinions / feedback is welcome. Thanks. Best Regards, Andrew

Dell OpenManage
Hi Everyone, I have a Xen host (Xen 3.4.2) which is running CentOS 5.5 Dom0. I wish to install Dell OpenManage to get a nice web interface with hardware status. Do I need to do anything special to get this working on a Xen host? Or does it work out of the box? The reason why I''m asking, instead of trying, is that my server is currently on its way to a colo, and I won''t have access to it...

Dell OpenManage installation on CentOS4
I have a Dell 1950 box on evaluation with 2 SATA drives connected to the on board Dell PERC 5/i with the disks set up as a mirror I've installed CentOS4.4 (x86_64) on the system and now I'm trying to install/configure/use the Dell OpenManage tools that came on a CD with the system. I've installed the tools using the provided install script and they appeared to install OK. I'm primarily interested in the tools to monitor the RAID controller - but if I type: omreport storage controller -fmt lst I get: No controllers found...

Dell openmanage srvadmin on 5.6
Hi all, I'm just trying to get Dell openmanage to run on my Centos 5.6 box. The monitoring stuff appears to have installed but the web server stuff is complaining it needs openwsman 2.2.3 or later and I can only find that for RHEL/Centos 6, not 5. Can anyone point me at a suitable rpm, or do I have to resort to compiling it? Surely I'm not...

XCP vs Xen on CentOS and Dell OpenManage
...e" while the Xen Hypervisor comes with "xm"? 2) I noticed "xe" has a lot of features, for example: "snapshots". Does it means "xe" goes beyond simply managing Xen and also acts as a frontend for LVM? 3) Did anyone managed to install Dell''s OpenManage on XCP -- Dell has RPM packages for RHEL5 and a yum repository, so I''m assuming it should work, but I would like to hear from someone who was at least tried to get it installed. Hi, Has anyone used this with CentOS 4 recently ? If so is it still a case of needing to munge /etc/redhat-release and then everything works ?

Does anyone know if I can reconfigure a PERC H700 without rebooting?
...h is really difficult to restart because of usage requirements and the fact that it's in a co-lo rack so miles away. I've added a couple of drives which I'd like to bring up and add to LVM but the config I know is in the PERC BIOS and requires a reboot. Can the config be changed in the openmanage suite and if so can someone point me in the right direction? thanks

...stops and starts as > expected. > That's certainly an option. One that I was prepared to resort to. But curiosity has the best of me ... I would like to know why the SysV generator didn't do its job. And I wasn't able to find any "generated" unit files from those Dell OpenManage SysV scripts either. > You may want to purge the sysv remnants. > > # cat /etc/systemd/system/lsi_mrdsnmpd.service > [Unit] > Description=LSI SNMP Agent startup/shutdown script > > Requires=network.target > Requires=snmpd.service > > After=network.target > After=s...

Random server reboot after update to CentOS 5.3
Dear ML We upgraded a Dell Poweredge PE 1950 Server the 8th of May. Since then the server rebooted 3 times without external cause (it is located in a server farm with redundant power supply etc.). Looking at the servers monitoring infrastructure with Dell's own OpenManage tools, I get strange errors: [root at servernew ~]# omreport system esmlog (....) Severity : Critical Date and Time : Mon May 11 17:46:59 2009 Description : System Software event: run-time critical stop was asserted Severity : Critical Date and Time : Fri May 15 21:07:57 2009 Des...

Systemd and systemd-sysv-generator
Hello CentOS List, I have a server that has SysV script supplied by a hardware manufacturer, which is not functioning properly. From my reading, systemd-sysv-generator should handle them (like it did for Dell OpenManage software which supplied SysV init scripts). /usr/lib/systemd/system-generators/systemd-sysv-generator Takes no or 3 arguments (it tells me), but I didn't find clear documentation on this binary. And no arguments doesn't seem to fix the issue. The particular software in question is LSI Meg...

write-back cache question
I have a perc5i (and perc5e) raid controller in my poweredge 2970 running centos 5.5. The RAID controller config is set for write-back policy, which I can confirm by checking in OpenManage. I also called Dell and ran their reporting application and had them double check to make sure everything looks OK hardware wise and they confirm that it does Yet when CentOS boots is appears to use the write through policy as can be seen below from dmesg output. Am I wrong that CentOS should q...

Trouble with ISOLINUX and IDE bus resets.
Hpa, Dell ships a CD called Dell OpenManage Server Assistant that, starting with version 8.0 released last November, is a Linux-based bootable CD. It uses ISOLINUX to load a linux kernel/initrd combo to start the system. From version 8.0 to 8.2 we use isolinux version 1.66. Starting with version 8.3 we have upgraded to version 2.08. First of...

CentOS and Dell Support
I'm a fairly experienced RH and Fedora user and admin looking to try CentOS for the first time. I have lots of experience with Dell servers and I'd like to stick with them. Although I'm sure it's not always strictly enforced, Dell claims that it won't provide warranty hardware support on servers installed with an un-Dell-supported OS (basically, anything other Windows, RH, and
