NUT in the press
As I've stated some time ago, NUT is more and more embedded in
appliances, such as the Synology x07 NAS models and Opengear network
units.
I'm working for some time with these two manufacturers to see how NUT
can be improved for a better user experience.
There was a small article on Linux Devices about Opengear devices and ?Clinux:

How long does it take for this sort of patch to get into a release? I ask because I need the OpenGear engineers to add this patch and/or release version into the ACM5xxx product line to be able to use it on site here.

BestPower Ferrups driver glitch with f commands
I did the testing you suggested, and it was indeed the whitespace. I added another if clause test to the function and everything seems to work. I have working driver that I will email a patch for this list. My coworker says the model ID is configurable though, so we will try that first, which would negate the need to patch the driver.

After starting Winnut I got a message: "fatal error: insufficient power
configured! edit your configuration and change the values"
I guess there is sth wrong with "MONITOR" part. Should I change
username/pass? Where can I check/change it? I found a tutorial about
setting up OpenGear
https://opengear.zendesk.com/entries/22948456-UPS-monitoring-and-automated-safe-shutdown-using-WinNUT
In this case it's easy to find UPS username and password. What about
CYBERPOWER?
Anything else I should do?
Thanks,
Tom

Joining forces with the Network UPS Tools
Hi Powermen ;-)
I recently came across the Powerman project
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/powerman/), pointed by Tony Merenda,
from Opengear (thanks Tony). Congrats for your work in this area!
I've thought a bit about Powerman and NUT since then...
NUT currently supports hosts of UPSs and few PDUs (RPCs), and provides
tons of features:

CentOS serial questions (Hyperterminal equiv and connecting to server via Hyperterminal)
I have two serial-related questions
(1) What is the CentOS (or *nix) equivalent of Hyperterminal in Windows?
Sometimes I'm on a CentOS box and need to, say, console into a Cisco or
something.
and
(2) I have a CentOS server that I may need to transport somewhere and will
most likely *not* want to carry around the monitor. Where should I look in

4) The sandbox
-------------------------
These are various points that need investigation.
Some will enter 2.4, other will be postponed to later releases,
depending on the available manpower:
- Python binding: integrate PyNut
- simplified / embeddable nut (check with Synology, Opengear, ...):
There seems to be some issues with cross-compilation, and some need to
stretch down the footprint (eventually by cutting down features,
busybox'ifying, ...)
- upstart support
- libusb 1.0 support
- lower verbosity (only print out at debug level 1, be quiet by default)
- new web UIs (...

com32 ssh/telnet support?
Perhaps I am being stupid and if so please enlighten me.
Assuming that all clients have reserved IP addresses on the dhcp server,
surely it would be possible to have a com32 module that presented the
boot options to both stdout and also allowed connections via ssh.
After all for the system to get the files via tftp it has to have
network connectivity so one piece of the puzzle is there already.

How to setup the NUT client on Windows?
Hi,
I have an Eaton 5SC UPS with only 1 USB communication port, but... I
need 3 devices to safely switch off in case of power failure, 2
Synology NAS and 1 PC under Windows 7 (soon 10)!
So I've decided to connect the UPS to the main NAS (via the USB
cable), enabled the "Network UPS server" on the NAS, entered the other
NAS and PC IP addresses to let them receive NUT messages in case

Adding power devices support to Fusion Inventory
Dear Fusion Inventory fellows,
I've been thinking about working on adding power devices knowledge to
inventory systems for years.
Following the last Ubuntu Developer Summit, I know have an "excuse" to do
so:
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-cloud-power-management
My below proposition is related to the above blueprint. So please keep in
mind that the

bcmxcp_usb can not communicate with Eaton Powerware 5110
Hi,
I have set up a RaspberryPi computer to do monitoring of two UPSs. One
is an MGE evolution 800, one is an Eaton Powerware 5110. The MGE was
being monitored by another Linux (Ubuntu 12.04) computer, and I just
copied and pasted in the relevant nut config and it works just fine with
nut.
I've tried to set up the Powerware 5110 with nut, and the bcmxcp_usb
driver can't communicate
