package 'synchronization' for multiple systems
I'm setting up multiple systems and ideally I want the same package configuration on all of them. So I'm going through yum and rpm queries manually to try and get this done. There must be a better way. Is there a way to use yum or rpm to configure multiple systems with the same packages? If yum or rpm has something native built into it to do this, that would be great. If

Firebug 1.2.0b4 for FF3
...Firefox 3 on CentOS 5.2, apparently because it's reporting itself as 3.0b5 rather 3.0. I tweaked the minVersion requirement in the xpi to 3.0b5 and it seems to be working fine for me now. In case anyone else is interested in testing it, my tweaked version is available here: http://www.openfusion.com.au/labs/dist/firebug-1.2.0b4-fx.xpi If it turns out to be stable we might be able to convince the firebug team to relax the minVersion requirement for us CentOS users. RPM verify weirdness
...tc/securetty # echo '#### foo' > /etc/exports # cat /etc/exports #### foo # rpm -V setup S.5....T c /etc/bashrc S.5....T c /etc/printcap ..?..... c /etc/securetty I thought verify was supposed to check every file in the package? RE: CentOS Digest, Vol 2, Issue 13
...g a different IP address for each secure site? That is an Apache requirement now as I understand it. That was the only way I could make it work for me on a second cert. Updating information on Skype in HowTo
Hello: My user name is YvesBellefeuille. I'd like to edit the information on using Skype under CentOS 6 at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Skype . The current information is based on http://www.openfusion.net/2009/09/19#fn.html , which was written in 2009 and is no longer accurate. Here are two examples: (1) it's no longer necessary to install qt4; (2) the packages to be installed are glib2.i686, etc., and not glib2.i386, etc., as indicated. It also seems to me that this information should b...

OpenOffice 2.0 rpms
...third-party RPMs for Open Office 2.0 for CentOS 4? Haven't come up with anything via yum or rpm.pbone.net yet, and would prefer not to go the openoffice.org binary installer route if possible. Back up to Rackspace Cloud Files from a CentOS server
Hi all, I'm looking for a solution to be able to back up to a Rackspace Cloud Files account from a CentOS server. I have set up Duplicity but have found out that the back-ups are in GPG-encrypted volumes. There are also GUI clients for Windows and Mac but they're not what I need. I'm looking for something like a command-line tool that will let me push directories on the server (via

script network reconfig after Centos 5->6 upgrade?
I need to upgrade a bunch of centos 5 servers to 6.x in the near future, mostly keeping the same connectivity and functionality. Are there any tools that will examine a running 5.x box and produce the appropriate /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules (etc). to make the same box come up with the same interface names with the same IPs it had before? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at

looking for rpms in CentOS 8
Hi, I can't find 3 rpms (for now, maybe more later) in centos 8, which are available for centos 7 and 6. perl-Crypt-SSLeay perl-Data-Validate-IP ndisc6 Any ideas why these aren't in the repos yet? I'm using these repos below and I've browsed repos searching for these. # dnf repolist ... repo id repo name status

nullmailer recommendations
...I guess the obvious solution is a minimal postfix config, but that seems reasonably heavyweight and easy to misconfigure - is there anything lighter floating around the centos universe? ipmi regression in 4.5?
I've been monitoring CPU temperature on a few Dell SC1435s running CentOS4 via OpenIPMI and 'ipmitool sdr'. It's been working very nicely, but the upgrade to 4.5 not so long ago seems to have broken something: # ipmitool sdr type Temperature Temp | 01h | ns | 3.1 | Disabled Planar Temp | 04h | ok | 7.1 | 30 degrees C Temp Interface | 53h | ns | 7.1
