envi clone in R
Hello all, Research Systems (www.rsinc.com) have developed and distributes the language IDL, and the GIS ENVI, written in IDL. To my oppinion, R language is superior, compared to IDL, in all aspects. However, ENVI is the rather convenient and feature rich tool. Is anyone aware about any work, dedicated to the creation of something, similar to the ENVI, but in R? Also, recently,

Samba4 changing a user's password from linux workstation
Hi I'm trying to find a way to change user passwords from ubuntu client workstation on a samba4 domain. I tried in CLI from the client workstation (ubuntu 14.04) with: - smbpasswd -U $user => In this case, password seemed to be updated, but "wbinfo -a" didn't worked with the new password, the old one was still active. - samba-tool user setpassword $user => In this

Samba4 - Evolution
Hi there, AFIK, win2008 will go EOL the 14th january of 2020 and i would like to ask you some questions about samba4 future. - As today we are able to join 2012 servers into a samba >4.6 domain, is it possible to join 2016 servers (i guess no, I never tried). If not will it be possible in samba's next releases (is it allready planned?) - I'm not an AD expert but in the same way,

DNS records missing for new DC joined to domain
Hi, My Setup is 3 DCs at the main site, et 14 remote DCs on 7 remote sites (2 DCs per site). I actually joined a new DC to my domain to an existing site in which i allready had a DC. But the fact is that i find no DNS records (such as _ldap, _kerberos, _gc , etc) I don't know whats's going wrong with it because i joined it the same way i joined the 16 other DCs.. Is there a way to

Samba4 - DNS update from clients
Hi, I have actually a samba4 domain with linux and windows workstations. When I join them to the domain, a DNS record is successfully created but when a machine get a new/different IP address, DNS record is not updated. We have an external (debian) iscp-dhcp server. Is it possible to update samba4's bind zone from this DHCP ?

Samba4 - Interdomain trust with samba3
Hello, I'm actually migrating resources from an old samba3/LDAP  (DOMAINA) to a Samba4 domain (DOMAINB) . I succeded in populating Samba4 users and groups from the old one. Now both domain live together during the migration i would like to set up an interdomain trust between the 2 domains so that samba4 users can still have access to samba shares on the old samba3 domain. So it would be

Samba4 DNS SOA Records
Hi I have a setup with 2 DC on a main site, et 14 DCs which are located on 7 AD sites. I recently noticed in my DNS zones that my SOA record is associated to the last DC that was joined to the domain. But this DC is located on one of the remote sites. Is this behavior normal or would it be better if I updated this record via "samba-tool dns update" to point it to one of my 3 main

Samba4 machine fails to join in samba3 domain
Louis is right, you should upgrade, but, in the meantime, try adding 'ntlm auth = yes' to your smb.conf, see if that helps. > > Also try running the following commands: > > net getlocalsid > > net getdomainsid > > Rowland > Yes they should upgrade, I totally agree.
