OpenArena on Linux/SPARC + nouveau
...ed) x86 graphics
cards, specifically a GeForce 4000 MX on a Sun Ultra 10 using
Debian/sparc64 (Linux 3.1.0)
Well, I don't know who's patches fixed what, but I was able to finally get
a stable X screen on it! glxgears showed a few hundred FPS, but glxinfo
segfaulted. I even managed to play OpenArena with some modest FPS for a few
minutes before the system hard froze -- but it was the best 5 minutes ever
;)
There are still some kernel traps of nouveau's DRM initialization and dmesg
appears to be filled with "BUG: Bad page map in process Xorg", but I'm
happy to say that there...

Current state - how to get gallium-stuff running?
Hi,
As the last tindc said something about 3d really working on nv4x, I wanted to
try that ( on a NV43). Built nouveau/mesa -> gallium-0.1 branch of mesa and
git head of libdrm, kernel-drm and xf86-video-nouveau.
glxinfo says:
nouveau DRI driver expected DDX version 1-1.2.x but got version 0.0.10
So I assume I need some other branch of xf86-video-nouveau (?)
I asked in irc but was pointed

Interestingly if I allow writecombined mappings in the kernel I get

the server (if available). This allows the driver to send accelerated and
unaccelerated data to the server which restores the correct values in XI2

games like openarena.

Centos and RadeonHD 4570
...ad bad thing, buying a laptop with an ATI card.
The card itself is supposed to be quite decent performance wise, but
the ATI drivers still suck a lot.
I haven't yet tried booting Centos on this laptop, but I used a Fedora
12 LiveCD. Fedora displays things nicely, but no 3D accel (I like to
play OpenArena/Tremulous every now and then).
After some serious googling I learned that I cannot even install ATI
Catalyst driver on Fedora, because of too new Xorg.
Do you have any success stories with running Centos and have 3D
acceleration on this video card?

...missing. I think certain items are missing from the levels too because I know that there is a blood stained mattress in one of the rooms in the asylum level that is not there, just the floor that it was on. The graphics are very dark and in general look very flat and washed out. They look more like openarena level graphics than fear graphics (not that open arena is flat and washed out.
Even if you don't know a way to fix this it would be interesting to know what the reason for it.

Counter-Strike 1.6 extremely slow
Counter-Strike 1.6 is extremely slow for me, say, one frame per ten seconds.
I am running Wine on Arch Linux 64 bits, I created my Wine prefix using

This is my direct rendering log:

[PATCH 00/12] drm/nouveau: support for GK20A, cont'd
...nel.
It does so by doing the necessary manual cache flushes/invalidates on
buffer access, so costs some performance. To avoid this you really want
to get writecombined mappings into the kernel<->userspace interface.
Simply mapping the pushbuf as WC/US has brought a 7% performance
increase in OpenArena when I last tested this. This test was done with
only one PCIe lane, so the perf increase may be even better with a more
adequate interconnect.

Lucas

[Bug 74062] New: Artifacts in 3D games.
...nclassified
OS: Linux (All)
Reporter: mbarrera at gmx.com
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: NEW
Version: 10.0
Component: Drivers/DRI/nouveau
Product: Mesa
Moving artifacts are present in the rendering of 3D games such as OpenArena or
Minetest/Freeminer, happens in glxgears too. However, there is no issue when I
use compiz. In blender, the artifacts are visible only ?inside? 3d elements.

Performance Issues with Games in Wine (EVE Online, TF2)
...AppDB pages for each of these games, and they are functioning correctly, except for one bug where EVE crashes when trying to apply changes to the graphics settings (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26237). I am using steam for TF2, of course, and the non-steam version of EVE. I tried running openarena as a point of comparison, and I was consistently getting 90 fps, though this may not be a fair comparison because it didn't seem like a very resource intensive game.
I suspected that the powermizer feature of the nvidia graphics driver was at fault, so I did some searching and came across this...

Hello everyone,
Thank you nouveau developers as it seems you may almost of a solution to
my lack of good graphics options for my aging sun system.
I saw here before back in early December of 2011 a most of someone
saying that it seemed that the nouveau drivers almost worked with him
and is Sun Ultra 10. I am someone who is very fond of my Sun systems, I
