Dovecot will not run on secure kernel.
I am trying to run Dovecot on RH 7.3 with Linux kernel 2.4.20 + GrSecurity patch. I downloaded the RPM yesterday and installed it. When I start Dovecot the kernel reports: kernel: grsec: From 192.168.1.22: attempt to overstep process limit by (dovecot:14491) UID(0) EUID(0), parent (dovecot:23872) UID(0) EUID(0) I have never seen this problem in the 3 years I have used GrSecurity together with a

The following messages show up in the log, but it seems that the IMAP Server works fine: Apr 26 19:20:04 src at gate imap-login: Login: hz

rc7 bug? [Was: deliver LDA and INBOX location] (fwd)
Anyone had any thoughts on the item below? If the problem is with my config, I'd like to be guided towards how I might resolve it. If it is a bug in rc7, it would be good to fix it, and I'd be happy to beta-test. -- : David Lee I.T. Service : : Senior Systems Programmer Computer Centre : :

LDA without lookup as non-root?
Hello, I'm having some problems getting LDA to work without userdb lookups and have a few related questions. This system has all users in MySQL, each user with unique UID/GID, no local users at all.? Installation is from apt-get. 1) If LDA is invoked without lookups, is it correct to assume that the "service auth" and "service auth-worker" can be completely removed

PATCH: make local IP address available to auth modules
The attached patch makes the local IP address to which the client connected available to the authentication modules; i.e., the local IP address is available for substitution as %i for the mysql and pgsql modules. We needed this feature to support thousands of our legacy accounts which are authenticated by username/local_part (not the full email address) and IP address (one per domain). Timo,
