Interesting oopses...
OK - this is starting to get frustrating... Are there any known issues with 2.6.9 and traffic shaping? I am using 2.6.9 with geoip 20041115, and get odd oopses. The following script oopses my box: ----------------------------------------------------- #!/bin/sh -x IFOUT=''eth1'' IFIN=''eth0'' TC=''/sbin/tc'' IPT=''/usr/local/sbin/iptables'' # BW definitions: # units of kbit/s NETBW=1000...

HTB: Two OOPSes fixed
Hello all, Two oopses were found by zhaoyao and Daniel Blueman. Patch against 2.4.23 and 2.6.0-test10 is here. It will be included in next kernel releases of course. ------------------------------- Martin Devera aka devik Linux kernel QoS/HTB maintainer http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/ _______________________________...

Asus A7V600 (3C940 1gb) + Oopsing kernel with PXELINUX
...r, system halted sometimes the node uncompresses the kernel and advances in startup, but the kernel makes Oops and produces the stack info during services startup. mostly non-recoverable. but sometimes everything seemes to be fine - even the login prompt ;-) but the system is corrupted - kernel oopses after some time. for sure will oops when shutting the system down. it seems as some part of bios/mba randomly overwrites some part of the kernel or sth alike. this is only my guess. the same kernel works fine when loaded from a "hard" media. I have tried various versions of pxelinux:...

Kernel oopses with gluster fuse on squeeze
Hi, We've been experiencing repeated (every other day) oopses on hosts with high load glusterfs accesses. Co-occurrent (not immediately tho, but there is some sort of connection) are hanging nginx processes (doing the accessing), which can not be stopped, killed and also block the shutdown of the respective openvz instance. I think I remember at least one ins...

[PATCH] Fix null dereference oopses for nv40 cards
The problem affects nv40 cards during booting. It comes from there being two places where subdev arrays are maintained. A commit was recently added to make the two equal. However, the struct nouveau_device version ends up being referenced before it is initialized. The problem arises during the creation of the INSTMEM and THERM subdevs. ' Signed off by: Bob Gleitsmann rjgleits at bellsouth.net

BUG: xend oopses on munmap of /proc/xen/privcmd
...ut the mess is so horrid that I''m not quite sure how to fix it... This oops prevents xen from starting xenU domains. Basically xend does the following: 1) mmap /proc/xen/privcmd 2) call an ioctl to populate the mmap 3) munmap the mapping created in (1) During the munmap, the dom0 kernel oopses, as follows: CPU: 0 EIP: 0061:[<c01505ed>] Not tainted VLI EFLAGS: 00010282 (2.6.11-1.1261_FC4.rielxen0) EIP is at set_page_dirty+0x1d/0x60 eax: 8b04ec83 ebx: c13da920 ecx: c13da920 edx: c025e1d0 esi: d4e0f730 edi: 3dd49067 ebp: b79cc000 esp: da503ebc ds: 007b es: 00...

hm ...
About two weeks ago i was whining about an inode that got lost, now i'm going to whine more about strange things happening here. A matroxfb just oopsed on me (thats not strange), the machine got unusuable, so i logged in from another and got the idea to touch /forcefsck. Upon reboot, fsck said that some inodes are in use but have dtime set and that some files are illegal sockets. Now this

The buffer_head is locked at this point, and the transaction itself is pinned, so I can't see any way to have an unrecognised transaction here. > I use the 'mem=nopentium' option on the lilo prompt while booting, hoping to > reduce the rather large amount of oopses I have had recently, as I read > something about AMD Athlons and AGP causing troubles. Re: 2.4.20 htb3 oops
Hi everyone, I am having problems with "oopses" since I introduced HTB on my company''s PC-based routers. It seems that only routers with high network load are affected. The average network load on the two most problematic routers are 10Mbps in/out and 2.5Mbps in/out. The other machines with less than 1Mbps average traffic seems u...

kernel oops generated by smbfs module
...nd a 3com 905B) both of which have the same problem. The machine hangs whether or not smbfs is a module (although running it as a module makes the source of the oops more obvious). I have never debugged the linux kernel before. What information do you folks need from me? I have at least one of the oopses in /var/log/messages, and can generate more of them. I read some of the kernel documentation but found it a little bit confusing, which is why I'm asking here. Regards, -- Erik Osheim

number of aces in big endian format?
...t! I have seen this on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. Have not intentionally installed any patches on either. This is causing grief to linux cifs client in acl code, when I parse the dacl, suddenly now the number of aces is a huge number instead of two or three or so aces and that is causing oopses in kmalloc'ing. I know this was not a problem earlier this year or late last year. Regards, Shirish

BUG: warning at kernel/softirq.c:141
...4 machines: 3 client nodes, 1 master: the master holds a fairly big repository of small files. The repo's current size is ~40GB with ~1.2 M files in ~100 directories. Now, we like to rsync changes from the master to the client nodes, which is working perfectly for 2 nodes, but our 3rd node oopses "sometimes", rendering the machine unusable and we are forced to reboot the box (no serial console, no sysrq possible). Below is the oops and a few details, more details, .config, dmesg, tune2fs-l are here: http://nerdbynature.de/bits/2.6.18-debian Yes, it's a debian kernel, 2.6....

problem with paravirt part of series
...it. It seems to boot OK, though perhaps fairly slowly, but once it hits usermode it gets into trouble. When starting udevd, the startup script runs MAKEDEV, which seems to get stuck in an infinite loop in userspace. It eventually gets past that part of the boot sequence - very slowly - then oopses at some later point. I haven't tried dissecting the patches to see where the problem might arise. I'll try again on a machine with a serial console to see if I can get a better idea of what's failing. The patches I'm talking about are: 006-paravirt_header.patch 007-pa...
