Problem with xen on Centos-4.4?
I am running a Xen installation on a Centos-4.4 based test box, my desktop unit, and I am having intermittent problems installing certain pieces of software. Some time back I posted to this list regarding my inability to install Adobe Acrobat on this unit and was advised to essentially repackage the software and try again. This is beyond my present means of knowledge or time to acquire same and

R connectivity to database
Hello, does anyone know how I would go about getting R to connect to OpenOffice's Base program (OOo's version of MS Access) such that I can retrieve data from the database and perform calculations and data analysis? I'm totally new to R and Base and I've looked at some documentation, but found only examples for R connecting to PostgreSQL and MySQL, but nothing for OOo's Base (the...

Sieve "OOO" configuration
I am able to get sieve issuing an "out of office"message correctly. However, I want to configure it to send an "OOO" message only during certain dates, say on weekends, or only between certain hours. I can do that manually; however, was wondering if there is any automatic method available that could handle this chore. Thanks! -- Jerry

oodraw command line usage
I use R to create .eps graphics and then use oodraw to convert them to .emf versions. (One reason I do this is that OOo tends to re-size .eps files and I haven't found a way to stop it or change it once the graph is resized. .emf files are not distorted by OOo - fortunately.) I use a command like: > oodraw filename.eps & The gui opens and then I select .emf and do an export. I haven't found a way to...

Yum update wants to overwrite newer app package
This is probably a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway (I do that - you all know... :-). Due to a bug I found in OOo 2.0, I moved to using OOo 2.3, back when I was still running CentOS 5.0. Now that I have upgraded to 5.1, yum wants to update my OOo from 2.3 BACK to 2.0. Is it possible to get yum to recognize that 2.3 is newer than 2.0, or should I just exclude OOo from the updates? Thanks. mhr --------------...

Raw print queues in CentOS 4.4
...configured in CentOS 4.4 for a printer connected to a Windows PC. The printer doesn't have a Linux driver of any sort, so this was the only way to print to it. The printer is an Okidata dot matrix printer. Users can print to it from a console application, but if they try printing to it from OOo Writer, the printer spits out reams of pages with what looks like postscript code. The very first page has a line that says "%! PS-Adobe-3.0". Even though the print queue is configured as "raw", why are OOo Writer print jobs still sent as postscript documents? I'm don'...

OOo opening maximized- how?
....04 with KDE, I have problems with OpenOffice.org opening in an unusual size, with half the application not visible on the screen. I do not have this problem with other applications. I would like OpenOffice to open in a maximized state, to prevent this problem. How does one configure compiz to open OOo in a maximized state? If it's possible, I would not mind configuring Compiz to open _every_ application window maximized. I tried selecting "Placement Mode -> Maximized" in "Place Windows" but that did not help with OOo. Thanks in advance. Dotan Cohen http://what-is-wh...

[ANNOUNCE] sch_ooo - Out-of-order packet queue discipline
Hello! I like to announce sch_ooo, a new queue discipline that, attached to a class (or a device, as root) reorder the packets that pass by delaying some. Example: tc qdisc add dev eth0 root ooo limit 100 gap 4 wait 1100 This queue will create a pfifo with limit 100 and will delay every 4th packet with 1100ms. An stream of 6 pac...

sip accounts
hi, i facing a problem here. in my sip.conf, i specify a account like this, [1234] type=friend context=from-sip username=1234 secret=1234 nat=no canreinvite=yes dtmfmode=info mailbox=1234@default disallow=all allow=ulaw so i am able to login with username 1234 and password 1234 but ther weird part is, i can also register as any number (account) without having to specify in sip.conf. thus
