Starting a Linux application for a windows file in wine
...double click that fie, Infocentral should open the appropriate application, say word, or excel or other. Now, this being a Linux box, I don't have Microsoft office installed, so I thought I'll create registry entries to point to the OO equivalent found in the Linux directories, ie /usr/bin/oocalc etc. I created and entry for .xls in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT with the Data of Spreadsheet. I then created a key called Spreadsheet, subkey shell, subkey open with the command /usr/bin/oocalc %1. This works up to a point, - when I click on a file in Infocentral (running under wine), oocalc now atte...

oomath and filter selection
Hi all, in Centos 5.2 I could click on and xls file in thunderbird and it would use oomath to open the file. I could do on the command line "oomath file.xls" and it open the file and show it to me no problem either. now in 5.3 (x86_64) in either case above I get a "filter selection" screen. Most of the selections are for Word not excel and if I choose an excel item my

Strange slowdown occasionally in CentOS 5.0
For some reason, parts of my system are now slowing down to an agonizing crawl from time to time. At first it was my VMWare Server 1.04, which became such a pain that I rebooted. Then, it looked like it was a network-induced thing because the prime culprit was SeaMonkey, particularly with multiple tabs open. I did an ifdown and ifup on my NIC and that seemed to help for a while. But then it

LibreOffice locking up
I am running LibreOffice 5.3.6.1 under the latest update of CentOS 7 and the Mate desktop. Not infrequently LibreOffice Calc locks up and I have to force close the application. Altough the spreadsheet is rather large I would not consider it complex. This has been going on for some time and I am curious if the bug might be in LibreOffice or if there is some interaction with the Mate desktop that

Re: Samba problems - looks like a bug in client
...nt is running samba 3.0.13, though I have tried installing 3.1 without seeing any difference. I have reverted to 3.0.13. I am seeing huge delays when transferring files direct from an application. Small gnumeric files save instantly on the local filesystem, but take 1.5 minutes over the lan. OOCalc has been unable to save the same spreadsheet at all, saying that access is denied. Printing from OOWriter is exceptionally slow, though this is never as bad from any other application. > 1. Command syntax may have changed on you. Always possible. My main problem, though, is in saving files...

LibreOffice locking up
Hi, I have similar problem for both oocalc and ooimpress. It happens at CentOS 6x, 7x and 8x. So I believe it's LibreOffice's bug, but I have no proof. Entering data into a multi-way array?
Hello: I am a novice R user, but I have been working my way through the manuals / tutorials, ... I have R / Deducer up and running, and know the basics. I want to analyze a microarray (gene expression) dataset. I need to input the data into R as a multidimensional (multi-way) array, something on the order of 15,000 x 3 x 8 x 2 [genes x replicates x time points x treatments] I've

waiting IOs...
Hi, We have a storage server (HP DL360G5 + MSA20 (12 disks in RAID 6) on a SmartArray6400). 10 directories are exported through nfs to 10 clients (rsize=32768,wsize=32768,soft,intr,nosuid,proto=udp,vers=3). The server is apparently not doing much but... we have very high waiting IOs. dstat show very little activity, but high 'wai'... # dstat ----total-cpu-usage---- -dsk/total-

Diff btw percentile and quantile
To calculate Percentile for a set of observations Excel has percentile() function. R function quantile() does the same thing. Is there any significant difference btw percentile and quantile?
