Debugging Onyx install
Hi all,
I have a helpdesk ticketing system app called Onyx that the company
requires me to use. It doesn't install, and isn't listed in AppDB. If I
run the installer with "WINEDEBUG=+loaddll,warn+all" I get this error:

Re: IP Filters and Masq: precisions
...so that you are only accepting the
minimum... After all, if nobody needs to telnet into your firewall from
outside, why give them the chance? If they can telnet into the
firewall, they then have full access to the internal network.
Hopefully this makes sense,

Re: Re: Re: Towards a solution of tmp-file problems
...Anyway, having worked
with one of these beasts, it is worth remembering that, although it
would be possible to implement this from Linux (it requires rewriting
the kernel, the file systems, the libraries, and some of the
applications) it is a complete pain to use. ;-)

Developing custom type/providers for multiple OS
Hello all,
I am developing a few custom providers for some features that I need into
my system (such as dealing with different zipped files or generating some
JSON data based on OS files) and I have hit into a question about "how to
do this for multiple OS?"
Lets focus into the zipped file provider that should provide a common
method to pack or unpack zipped files (tar, tar.gz,

version to Irix 6.5
My name is Angelica Nunes and I work at TV Globo Rio de Janeiro/Brazil.
I need some help about the SAMBA software.
Our system is based on Silicon Graphics' machines, models: Indy, Impact,
Onyx and Indigo using Operational System Irix 6.2, 6.3 or 6.4. We must
upgrade all these systems to Irix 6.5 version. We would like to know which
samba version is compatible with Irix 6.5?
Where do I can download it?
Thanks for your attention,
Angelica Nunes

Feature Request: Settable 'nice' value.
...ike to be able to set the nice value on puppetd.
However, we don''t want all of our services (and some of our execs)
re-niced.
Would it be feasible/practical to have the ability to set the nice
value explicitly on Service and Exec calls?
Thanks,
Trevor

Calls between SIP and IAX
Hi all,
I have a trouble when I try to configure asterisk to make calls between
IAX and SIP. IAX I'm using to connect between asterisks a on SIP I have
phones. The calls come from higher asterisk to my on IAX, SIP phone is
ringing and when I hang up then dial command ends and connection is
loss.
When I'll make connection between asterisks on SIP then all work fine.
Does anybody has any

polygon kills X-server
Hi all,
when I make a polygon with 100,000 vertices my X-server is being
killed. This occurs in R-2.9.0 and a freshly installed R-2.10.0
I'm running Ubuntu with a locally compiled R:
uname -a
Linux onyx 2.6.24-24-generic #1 SMP Tue Aug 18 16:22:17 UTC 2009
x86_64 GNU/Linux
xlower = -2e6:2e6
xupper = rev(xlower)
ylower = runif(length(xlower))
yupper = ylower+.1
plot(NA,xlim=range(xlower),ylim=range(ylower))
idx=1:10000
# it draws fine for lower number of vertices:
polygon(x=c(xlower[idx],xupper[id...

Announcing Razor
Puppet Labs is really thrilled to announce, in conjunction with EMC, our
new open source bare metal provisioning tool: Razor.
Razor is next generation provisioning software that handles bare metal
hardware and virtual server provisioning with inventory discovery and
tagging, rule-based policy management, and extensible broker plugin
integration. It integrates closely with Puppet and Facter.

When Upgrading Wine
So, version .16 has come out and I wouldn't mind upgrading. The thing is, I have to patch my Wine source code for a particular game. I guess I have to remove the Wine version I have now, patch the .16 and compile the source code? If there is another way, please let me know.
Though, my main question is if I uninstall Wine, will it take thing installed with it; I mean, does .wine still exist

Stdlib and Defined Types
...efined type, you end up not having any idea
what actually threw the error.
Though much has moved to parameterized classes, there are still times when
defines are useful and it would be nice to know what calling
class/define/stack was blowing up.
Thanks,

Purge-like ability for the augeas type?
...9;' as well as removing anything not managed
by puppet in that subsection then you currently do not have this
capability.
Is this correct?
I know how to get around this with concat, but I was hoping to not mix
the two for a single file set.
Thanks,
Trevor

Append string to list items.
I have an array:
$nodes = [''gfs01'' ,''gfs02'', ''gfs03'', ''gfs04]
and a string variable:
$brick_store = "/var/bricks"
How can I append "/var/bricks" to each item in the array? Lack of a
looping construct makes this challenging in puppet.
Such that:
brick_array = [''gfs01:/var/bricks'',

You got some 'splaininn to do Lucy ;-)
We just had a security application vendor come in. We asked about Linux
support and he said that putting a security application on top of an
insecure OS was useless. When I asked what he meant by insecure he replied
that Linux does not have a true Auditing capability - as opposed to HP-UX &
Solaris which they do support. Can anyone explain to me what he was talking
about?
Thanks,

Sys.putenv environment variables disappear (PR#1371)
Environment variables set with Sys.putenv() disappear (i.e. become "")
after a while, especially after heavy-duty I/O. Example:
R> x <- matrix(1., 3000, 3000)
R> save(x, file="myx.RData")
R> Sys.putenv(HOME="/tmp")
R> while (Sys.getenv("HOME") != "") {cat("ok\n"); load("myx.RData")}
The loop prints
