ruby rails performance
...oxy balancer-> mongrel cluster -> 3
mongrel servers.
I have noticed that the total request per second is is about 7.5. When I
increase the no of mongrel to 5, it inches up to 8 req/s.
My question is how bad or good this number is? We are on a old dell 2400
machine with MySQL also runing ony the box. What can I do to increase
the req/sec number higher?
/thanks

Any Xen kernel based on something newer than 2.6.18 ?
Hello all,
I''m trying to get my servers to work with Xen, but as I use sata2, it
looks like only a recent kernel will do the job. But unferotunately, ony
and official 2.6.8 is provided, which doesn''t boot at all on those machines.
I''ve tried ubuntu''s 2.6.22-xen, but ti looks very buggy. Where could we
find patches for 2.6.22/23 to add Xen?
How could I gete a recent kernel with Xen?
Thanks for any suggestion tht could hel...

Fwd: Icecast temp patch (OR: Patches? We DO need stinkin' patches!!@$!)
Hi There,
re. the recently reported buffer overflow in icecast, is there any
"official" security patch against 1.3.11 ? I am reluctant to take any
un-official patch like this one ;-)
There is nothing on www.icecast.org/releases, maybe it's somewhere else ?
Thanks.

Help with this topic
...and cross-covariance scores 1,
2 and 3 of four classes A, B, C and D. I am using acf and ccf from time
sires library. My problem is that I can not separate my data among the
classes A, B, C and D. When I calculated acf for Score 1, I got a wrong
result. The reason being that instead of using ony 60, 40 and 20, the
program use all the data in column under Score 1. What should I do to
calculate acf and ccf scores for each class A, B, C and D according to
he data below?

CallerID, DECT phones and ATA
Hi,
I have two DECT cordless phones (one Philips Onis 6311 and one Philips Onis2
Memo-6511).
The first one is for the french standard and the second one for the british
standard.
Both of them have callerid functionality.
The british one does not show anything when connected to my PSTN line.
I have not yet tested the french one.
What I want to do is to connect both of them to the same ATA box.

Win2000 DUN via Asterisk (Is it possible)
...work. What I hoped i'd find was a vitual modem
driver for windows 2000 that wouldtalk over sip to my asterisk box and then
act like a normal modem so I can dial out from that to our RAS service at
work.
Any One got any ideas as VPN is not an option for security reasons the DUN
connection is ony allowed from work Laptops via RSA Securid
Thanks

non-primary group permissions

their primary group.
This is using samba 3.0rc3, all user and group info is coming from
winbind and permissions work as expected when using a linux shell but
not from a windows client.
The problem goes away if I use the 'force group' option on the share,
but this still means that ony one group can be of any use for that
share. Is this expected behaviour or is something going wrong?
Thanks

Warm boot ISO image from Linux
Greetings!
First big thanks to the Syslinux community. My project, the Open
Network Install Environment (ONIE), is using isolinux to great
effect. Works great.
I have a crazy idea I want to bounce off of you folks.
Idea: I want to "warm boot" an ISO image from Linux.
By "warm boot" I mean start executing the code (isolinux) from the
ISO without rebooting and going through

OpenVPN tunnel question
...VPN an OpenVPN with shorewal. I tryed a lot and read a
bounch of howto''s but nothing helped so I came here.
I want to tunnel all request to my server 141.48.XXX.XXX from my home
network throu port 443.
I want to do this because this is the only way I can connect to my
server using ssh or ony other tool or port. On Port 80 Apache is
running, so I only have the https port 443 to tunnel over. The
university is providing a Windows VPN client to use the ssh and FTP
Ports but this client is unavailable for Linux. And there is no way
ahead with openSWAN or strongSWAN. So this is my last chanc...

Mechanism for Enqueue and Dequeue?
...anism or interface?
For example if you change the queueing method you don''t have to change the whole Kernel and recompile it so there is an external interface I assume.
The HOWTO states in section 9.5.2.1. that ''Packets get enqueued and dequeued at the root qdisc, which is the ony thing that the kernel talks to''. How does it talk to the qdisc? Could I write my own Queue?
This may not be the form for this question in which case sorry for the noise.
Thanks for any help

restoring mails and directories
Good day!
is there an easy way to restore e.g. deleted mails and/or mail directories?
let me specify: I'm running dovecot 1.2.9 on a current ubuntu lts. It is set to Maildir and I backup the folder with the users maildata nightly via rsync.
now, when someone deletes a mail that they still need, and I copy it back from the backup, it will not be visible to mail clients. When I change the

seting acl for master user?
Hello!
I'm sorry, but i don't really understand it the way it is written in the wiki, so i'm trying my luck here =)
i followed the wiki for creating a master user (the non-sql-version) and i can login as another user via this master user.
my dovecot version is 1.2.9 on an ubuntu server 10.4.3 lts.
what i don't get is the acl-setting, so that the master-user can access all the

[OT?] 'negative' GPOs for local user?!

explicitly apply GPOs to users/groups.
Two examples, of my confusion.
1) i've setup password policies (8 chars, 5-row password history,
...), and this is a ''computer'' policy, that apply... to computers. ;-)
But... there's some way to have domain computer policy apply ony to...
domain users, and not local one?!
2) i've setup also user policy, eg, the profile (enabled and set a
quota). Also this seems to apply to all users, also local ones.
For that i've found (many!) article like that:

Gluster performance / Dell Idrac enterprise conflict
I've tested about 12 different Dell servers. Ony a couple of them have
Idrac express and all the others have Idrac Enterprise. All the boxes with
Enterprise perform poorly and the couple that have express perform well. I
use the disks in raid mode on all of them. I've tried a few non-Dell boxes
and they all perform well even though some of...

using the function "interp", and plot the interpolation successfully
using "filled.contour". I then interpolate the first two variables and a
fourth using "interp" again, but when I try to overlay the contour

Same from here: I do not see how this can easily be made more efficient,
since evaluating ony parts causes a lot of copies of objects whichs
slows stuff down, hence you need some complexity in yes and no to make
evaluations of parts of them more efficient on R level.
Anyway, to solve the problem, we may want an add argument to ifelse2()
that allows for specification of the type of the...
