Little's Chi Square test for MCAR?
...hich i need to test for MCAR and MAR. What i can make out from preliminary analysis is that moderate (0.30 to 0.60) correlations may be present in several variable pairs leading me to suspect that the data may not be MCAR or MAR. However i need some more "concrete" proof. Any help - onlist or offlist - would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance Rohit Vishal Kumar Ph.D. Student (Calcutta) India

Boxplot with quartiles generated from different algorithms
R users: I am trying to replicate the boxplot output I achieve with Minitab in R. I realize that R gives the user many more options on the algorithm used to calculate the IQR than Minitab, so I concentrated on type=6 when using the quantile() function in R. The problem I am having is setting the upper and lower limit of the whisker based on the nearest actual data that should be included. If

encrypting connection to Samba
Hello, I've searched the Howtos, but I did not find anything, so I'm asking this question onlist. When are connections between Samba and the client encrypted? I run Samba 3.0.20a on a network with Windows XP SP2 and some Windows 98 machines. - Are connections always encrypted? Are there any smb.conf settings I have to make in order to get encryption working (server signing?)? - Are just aut...

epoll increasing latency big time
Sorry this is going to be a bit vague, but I''ve noticed something rather odd going on with EventMachine on Linux. I''ve written something uses EventMachine to proxy HTTP to other processes. On OS X, it works great, adding only about 20% extra latency into the connection when proxying versus connecting to the original backend process directly, so a 5ms connection might now take

BEWARE: This list is being harvested for leads
I personally didn't mind a one-time notice from the dev's team that that are now offering paid commercial support. What if I WANTED it? I felt like it was a courtesy email from them to let me know that it's available. If those emails continue unsolicited, then it may start to feel like spam to me, but this did not. In general, I've actually been looking for ways to financially

Data cleaning & Data preparation, what do R users want?
I don't think my view is of interest to many, so offlist. I reject this: " I would consider data analysis work to be three stages: data preparation, statistical analysis, and producing the report." For example, there is no such thing as "outliers" -- data to be removed as part of cleaning/preparation -- without a statistical model to be an "outlier" **from**,
