...ot. If you are not able to reboot, then restarting the UPS service (Status / Services) will get suffice to get all the messages originating from NUT itself. It will not include the kernel discovery messages, but I don’t see a need for that here.

I am not a WinNUT user, but in general NUT clients do not produce their own log
files. If you want more detail, you have to set the debug options and then look
in your system logs.

...it on its own. The debug text file is produced but doesn't have any info in it aside from these:
Network UPS Tools - Generic HID driver 0.41 (2.7.4)
USB communication driver 0.33
So I think it's not redirecting the output text properly or something.

smbldap-tools unresovled problem.

it has been proven that it behave this way after joing 7 workstation to
the PDC.

NUT messes up UPS after mains power is restored

I think I know what I did wrong. In step 7, I plugged the mains too early causing a power race condition as described by point #51 here<https://networkupstools.org/docs/FAQ.html> . chown on smbfs doesn't work ??
...permission of files transferred changes automatically
to 502.501.
I couldn't even issue a command chown. The error message said that
"changing ownership of `thisfile': Operation not permitted
Can someone please advise me to get around with this problem?

NUT messes up UPS after mains power is restored
...command given to it by the pfsense is still being enforced even though the mains is already connected and providing power.
10. Then it turns on by itself again. And this vicious cycle continues over and over until I disconnected the USB serial connection in the back of the UPS.
What have I done wrong here? Why doesn't the UPS detect that the mains power is already back when the USB serial connection is plugged in. It seems to me that the command given by the pfsense NUT package is messing the behavior of the UPS.

strict locking and kernel oplocks in the smb.conf
1) Does "strict locking = no" negate "kernel oplocks = yes" ?
2) What's the difference between the two?
3) What a good way to test if a file got a lock seen from the linux side and the windows side?
4) If a file has a lock, does that mean you can still open the file in linux or in windows, but can't write to it?
Any clarification between the two would be helpful.
