Plea: No long unbroken lines, please!
...extensions which have been introduced, comes out as a single line 657 characters long, of which I can only see about one fifth at a time. This makes it very difficult to take in what is written. The only way to get it decent is to Copy&Paste the content into a local file, and then tidy that up oneself. So may I please ask people to try to avoid sending long unbroken lines? (And perhaps the pipermail server may have a configuration option which would insert line-breaks at suitable places?) With thanks! [LLVMdev] Letter-spacing in Sphinx CSS?
...CSS generated by Sphinx? Could we remove that? It makes the main text font look really bad for me (I can attach an image if anyone wishes to take a look). Fonts already have appropriate tracking built-in, so trying to change that, especially without knowing the font name beforehand, is shooting oneself into the foot. ionice
Hi Everyone, I''m experimenting with ionice, and I have to say at first impressions I''m very impressed! Does anyone have any idea how I could script the ionice config? I''m using phy for my DomUs so everything appears in ps as blkback.<DOMID>.xvda1 The problem is, is that the process id for the blkback process will change after every DomU restart,

Text effects
Heya, The latest script.aculo.us trunk features an experimental text effects feature. See a demo here (probably broken in IE, haven''t tested): http://script.aculo.us/__trunk_test/test/functional/ texteffects_test.html It works like this: The new method Effect.tagifyText(element) wraps all single characters of all text node children (not grandchildren) of the given element in

AuthorizedKeysCommand support added
...authorized_keys format. The program must terminate normally and with a zero exit status or its output is disregarded. The program is executed as the user being logged in, unless a different user is specified using AuthorizedKeysCommandUser. A facility like this grants a large opportunity to shoot oneself in the foot. We try to prevent obvious mistakes (like having the command writable by others), but the best approach is to use a well-audited helper, owned and writable only by root, that runs under a dedicated account that is not used by anything else. Dovecot Sieve: Vacation Recipient
...t to use imap and sieve, they can have a forward to <uid>@imap.<domain>. The return-path, and hence the address the vacation message is sent to, is then <uid>@<domain> and not the original sender of the message. Is there any way to circumvent this? Sending a vacation back to oneself doesn't really make sense here :) Oh, and happy new year and thank you all for this great piece of software! -- Lukas

decoration flashing with current upstream
..., I started experiencing the decorations flashing and windows not being updated correctly. Sofar I was not able to revert to a state identifying which commit introduced this flaw. This is happening to me on an i915 and a GeForce7900GT. Using git revert <some commit> is the right way to work oneself back in the history of changes, right? Earlier this morning the version I pulled was just fine. One model won''t work like the others, generating weird error
I''ve been banging my head against this for quite some time and can''t figure out what is going on. I''m doing up a web site based on Typo and adding in some custom controllers. I''m running Typo from trunk, so it''s using the version of rails in vendor/rails. Everything is going smoothly...until now. I have one model that JUST. WON''T. WORK.

[LLVMdev] GCC_4.2.0 problem
...cd build ../llvm-gcc4/configure --prefix=$LLVM/install --enable-llvm=$LLVMOBJDIR --enable-languages=c --disable-threads sed -i 's/LD_LIBRARY_PATH/DUMMY_LD_LIBRARY_PATH_DUMMY/g' Makefile make make install The bugreport mentions this, but since the Makefile is not there before make, one save oneself an make/make clean trip. Hopefully it helps someone that is fighting with this problem. I am not sure if it gives any sideeffects but I have not seen any so far. /Fred

higher derivatives using deriv
...cumentation on deriv for that matter: deriv(expr, namevec, function.arg = NULL, tag = ".expr", hessian = FALSE, ...) This doesn't seem to include an "order of derivative" argument, in fact, in the examples section, it is outlined, how one can build a higher deriv. function oneself... RSiteSearch() not in posting guide
Hi, In a recent reply I sent to the list, my initial response was to suggest, politely that by reading the posting guide and learning to use the supplied tools one can often help oneself. I then went on to say that reading the posting guide would have led you to RSiteSearch("insert query"). Luckily I went to the posting guide to check this was there before posting and much to my surprise that page does not once mention this excellent facility! In the section "Do you...

FreeBSD-SA-04:05.openssl question
Hello there. The FreeBSD-SA-04:05.openssl Security Advisory announced a "null-pointer assignment during SSL handshake" DoS vulnerability. However, the OpenSSH Security Advisory of 17 March 2004 announced the same vulnerability with one more vulnerability. Look at http://www.openssl.org/news/secadv_20040317.txt Isn't FreeBSD vulnerable to the second "Out-of-bounds read affects

I just don't trust pkg-managers with their chosen configure options & gcc tweaks etc. ;) ). On the mp3-tech.org page you cited, there is a chart showing Layer-II bitrate+mode combinations which are not allowed. I definitely remember that I could not specify any of Darkice...
