barplot groups of different size i.e. height is NOT a matrix
Hello, I want to use the function barplot do display several group of bars. A standard example is given at this link http://onertipaday.blogspot.com/2007/05/make-many-barplot-into-one-plot.html But in their example the 4 groups of bars are all composed of 8 bars. I want to be able do display the same kind of graph but where the number of bars in each group are not the same. For example the first group of bars would have 2 bars a...

multiple x factors using the sciplot package
...an be seen in the legend. The parameter "response" is the Average percentage cover category of these species. I would like the graph so you see on the x axis the years (in a bigger font) and the period (in smaller font). It would look a bit like the barplot that can be seen at http://onertipaday.blogspot.com/2007/05/make-many-barplot-into-one-plot.html, but with the advantage of the sciplot package. Thanks a lot for your help! Jordan [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

make many barplot into one plot
...an easy function, but unfortunately the upper plot part look much different from other graphs. I would therefore prefer barplot to stansdardize my plots within the manuscript. It would be very helpful for me to know if anyone else has worked on the barplot group function. Thanks Sibylle http://onertipaday.blogspot.com/2007/05/make-many-barplot-into-one-plot.html R code from the link ## I have 4 tables like this:satu <- array(c(5,15,20,68,29,54,84,119), dim=c(2,4), dimnames=list(c("Negative", "Positive"), c("Black", "Brown", "Red", "Blond&quo...

creating bar charts with nested groups
...ps levels. I have data that is seperated to this factors: 1. Day part - day/night. 2. Season - summer/winter. 3. habitat - Cover/Open I have created in Excel the following chart which I would like to create in R: http://www.nabble.com/file/p22180918/chart.jpg I have seen this nice post: http://onertipaday.blogspot.com/2007/05/make-many-barplot-into-one-plot.html. I can change it for my purposes but I want to be sure there are no simpler solutions. I think the function bargraph.CI() should handle "one-way or higher experimental designs" but I can't figure out how and there are no examp...

Histogram with two groups on the same graph (not on separate panels)
...written by other people. The below is the codes I used for my data containing a column of svl (body size; snout-vent length) and another column of sex (male or female). My data structure is shown at the bottom of my email message. My question:  When I ran the codes below (modified from: http://onertipaday.blogspot.com/2007/04/how-to-superimpose-histograms.html), I got an error message, “Error in hist.default(X[[1L]], ...) : 'x' must be numeric”. Could anyone help me figure out the problem, please? Do you know alternative codes or a function that produce a histogram containing two groups,...

Side by Side Barplot Newbie Question
Hi, Many apologies for sending this twice. I accidentally hit the send button before I finished writing my mail. I am new to R and I hope someone can help me with my problem. I am trying to draw a side by side barplot. There is a main experiment and there are many sub experiments within the main experiment. I would like to draw a bar plot showing the number and type of sub_experiments done for

Combined plot: Scatter + density plot
Hi, in order to save space for a publication, it would be nice to have a combined scatter and density plot similar to what is shows on http://addictedtor.free.fr/graphiques/RGraphGallery.php?graph=78 I wonder if anybody perhaps has already developed code for this and is willing to share. This is the reproducible code for the histogram version obtained from the site: def.par <-
