Temperature monitoring tools
Are there any easy to use snmp(mainly temperature monitoring)
tools around for Centos -4? This is on a Dell sc420 server.

Random server reboot after update to CentOS 5.3
...PE 1950 Server the 8th of May. Since then
the server rebooted 3 times without external cause (it is located in a

Dell OpenManage installation on CentOS4
...d now I'm trying to
install/configure/use the Dell OpenManage tools that came on a CD with
the system.
I've installed the tools using the provided install script and they
appeared to install OK.
I'm primarily interested in the tools to monitor the RAID controller -
but if I type:
omreport storage controller -fmt lst
I get:
No controllers found
Also, if I use the Web interface, I only get 'Diagnostic' menus -
nothing about configuring/monitoring the storage.
As I've never used OpenManage before, I'm not sure what to expect from
it ...
Does anyone know if I hav...

I've Googled a bit, but don't see any clear consistent explanation.
Does anyone have any pointers as to what is causing this? Faulty
hardware? I ran memtester, but it didn't find any issue with the
memory it was able to...

Getting info on hardware RAID
Hello everyone,
I'm doing an audit of all our servers here (there aren't that many
maybe around 5-10) and one of the things I'm doing is taking note of
each server's hardware specs (processor, memory, etc).
I can't seem to figure out how to get the information for the hard
drives. The drives are in a hardware RAID5 array and are all SCSI
types. I would like to get each

Xen 3.3.1 Windows HVM Disk I/O -> domU and dom0 hangs
Hi,
we are currently working on getting windows working on your xen servers.
but we are facing a severe problem where dom0 and all domus hang for
1-5 seconds from time to time.
we think it is probably because of disk i/o, because top sometimes
says 100% wa (waiting on io) during the hang.
dom0 has cpu 0 for exclusive use and the windows vms use cpu 1 to 7.
should we give dom0 more than once

Dell PERC H800 commandline RAID monitoring tools
We're looking for tools to be used in monitoring the PERC H800 arrays on
a set of database servers running CentOS 5.5.
We've installed most of the OMSA (Dell monitoring) suite.
Our current alerting is happening through SNMP, though it's a bit hit or
miss (we apparently missed a couple of earlier predictive failure alerts
on one drive).
OMSA conflicts with mega-cli, though we may

XCP vs Xen on CentOS and Dell OpenManage
Hello,
I just tried out XCP and I was surprised to see it looks pretty much
like Xen from Citrix. Based on the RPM packages installed, I assume
XCP is based on RHEL5.
With that in mind, I have a few questions that I did not find an
answer on the web... Perhaps I didn''t look in the right places, so if
you know about any good documentations that I should read please share
it :)
