Olympics: 200m Men Final
Hello,
Have you seen the log-linear prediction of the 100m winning time in R
mailed to the list yesterday by David Smith, subject Revolutions Blog:
July roundup?
"A log-linear regression in R predicted the gold-winning Olympic 100m
sprint time to be 9.68 seconds (it was actually 9.63 seconds):

two-dimensional integration?
..."always" works -- at least in higher dimension?
Also, iterated one-dimensional integrations could
be attempted, but I find that messy, also because
things lose the g(many) = many(g) property, and
then R refuses to integrate g.)
(c) Will a thing like the above exist in R before
the Tromsoe Olympics in 2014? For which dimensions?

Invalid PTR record in reverse lookup zone
Hello,
I have configured an samba AD DC for use with
some windows and linux machines. The linux machines use
samba for user auth and also as kerberos kdc for
nfs mounts. This works fine so far but after a while
the user can not access the nfs shares anymore.
I tried to analyze the problem and finally found, that
the obtaining a ticket for nfs service failes in this
case because of a wrong

About File locking
Is there a way to lock an EXE file on a shared volumn in such a
way that only one person can use it at a time? With some kind of
sharing violation happening if a second person tries?
This is the latest version of SAMBA on a Linux box, and Win95
clients.
many thanks.

how to draw crossing circles to show relationship?
...sly, cookie 1,13 and 17 are liked by all of the person. cookie 2,7,9,10,13,15,17 and 19 are liked by Evan and Torri, etc.
I want a chart by using crossing circles to show how many is liked to all of them, how many is like by Dave and Evan,..., and how many is like only by Dave,.... Just like the Olympic log but with numbers to show the relationship. Of course, each circle represents one person in our data.
Better if we can draw the circles according to the total cookies liked by its corresponding person.
I'm very new to R and have no idea how to do it. Thanks for any advices.

IGMP
The BBC are currently trialling multicasting the Olympics. This requires
multicast and IGMP to be available. As far as I can make out, in 2.0.8
at least, all multicast addresses are filtered out and, to my naive
eyes, can''t be re-enabled.
Please prove me wrong :-)

Printing Problem
Hi there.
I have the following Problem (configuration follows):
I have configured Samba with 3 printers, 2 of them with direct
connection over TCP, because they are connected directly to the
internal network.
When I try to print on one of them, the printing application on a
Windows XP Professional client freezes and a Windows 2000 client
reports an error message,

Slow Resilvering Performance
I know this topic has been discussed many times... but what the hell
makes zpool resilvering so slow? I''m running OpenSolaris 2009.06.
I have had a large number of problematic disks due to a bad production
batch, leading me to resilver quite a few times, progressively
replacing each disk as it dies (and now preemptively removing disks.)
My complaint is that resilvering ends up
