Hello everyone! I''m not sure if it''s right place to ask, but what is your experience with google adsense? I plan to implement free web service for community and would like to cover hosting costs. Is adsense worth the hassle? olegf

looking for a job
...ked it so much that I feel the need to escape my big evil corporation and join a small RoR web shop. I''m not a guru (yet), but I have experience in programming (PHP, Java, RoR) and linux system administration. I''m calm, honest and responsible. You can take a look at my page http://olegf.name to see my skills, past work experience and my (tiny) contributions to the open source. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Perhaps, you should give me a try :) Peace -- Oleg Frolov http://olegf.name skype: oleg.f jabber: olegf@12jabber.com

Puzzled with filters
...rld string. But it should be compile error (see "xxxx" in filter code). No matter what I do inside the filter, this filter is not applied at all! I''m very puzzled. I do restart webrick after modifications to the controllers. ruby 1.8.4 (2005-12-24) [i686-linux] rails 1.0.0 -- olegf

Language setting before routing?
When processing a request, where can you obtain the language setting of a user''s browser? I know we can read @request.env["HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE"] in an action easily. But I need to access it before being routed to a controller''s action... because the accepted language dictates my app''s language setting programmatically and what action to take.

how do I test links in templates?
...''login page should have a link to password recovery''. How do I transform it into tests? Where it should go? It does not look like functional tests or integration tests. To me, it looks like ''template test''. How do you suggest to test these statements? Peace. -- olegf

Caching of models?
...ain. Same error. Looks like model is cached. Restarted WebRick. Now it''s OK until next syntax error in model. I''m running rails 1.0.0, ruby 1.8.2 on windows xp sp2. I use webrick in development mode. Why Rails behaves like that? What can I do to prevent this kind of caching? -- olegf

Double and single quote usage in AWDWR
...9;t it more semantically correct to write this code like <%= javascript_include_tag ''prototype'' %> for we don''t need to substitute anything in this string. Or is it a matter of style only in this case? If I stick to second way, will templates be processed faster? olegf

flickr like DST timezone management
