OKI B411 printer
On a Centos-5.7 system, this printer works fine using a parallel cable
but fails using the USB interface; the following appears on the CUPS
page when I try to print a page:
Unable to open device
"hal:///org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_6bc_268_AK11044671_if0_printer_no
serial":

Any suggestions? On a Fedora 14 system, the USB interface works, so it's

Okie.... vcrun2008....
...can't get it to install. I'm using winetricks, could try just browsing to the executable. What happens is that the installer opens up and when I tell it to install, it immediately tells me 'this product is not supported on this operating system.' Ubuntu Karmic, wine 1.2, not sure what version of winetricks I'm using... any thoughts? Any way to force it to install anyway?

Having issues with rpcclient's adddriver
Hi,
I'm trying to add a Windows NT/2000 OKI C5100 print driver to a Samba
2.2.3a server. I've been told that this driver does some server-side
stuff, so I'll have to use 'adddriver' in rpcclient.
I've read the manual page for rpcclient, and I printed out a 'Windows
2000 Printer Test Page' to get all the relevant information.
This is probably just something

GDI Printer problem
Hi,
we have a new printer here (OKI C5650). It's a GDI printer
attached to our cups server. I installed the windows driver
as root on the print share without any problems.
However it's not working. When a user maps the printer
only a message appears "printing not possible".
So I looked at the printserver and compared everything with
a local printer on my XP notebook and found

ADPCM 4-bit, 6 kHz
I found some posts regarding this issue dating of September 2003, but no
real answer.
The ADPCM format supported by Asterisk (the .vox files) is 4-bit, 8 kHz. I
need 4-bit, 6 kHz, which is also a widespread Dialogic format, to help
migration.
Is there an existing format/codec for this? If not, can I make myself a
shared object in /usr/lib/asterisk/modules? Is this easy??? :-(
Thanks,
Yves

Bind on non-DC host (formerly: bind 9.11.b2 with samba 4.4.5)
oki doki. Thank you for precision.
That kind of limitation should be added to the wiki as I would have already
tried to move Bind to a non-DC host if I was able to find to to do that.
And if I thought about that, some have thought about that before me.
With easy virtualisation as we have now, with the idea to separate task one
different systems to lower risk endured by each system, it seems to me

Unfortunately not. It should compile easily. The reason we didn't
release binaries was because we'd want to put lame in there, and that's
illegal. :(
So we'd have to release binaries without lame, which would lead to lots
of email asking why reencoding isn't working.

exporting character vector to text files
R-help,
I have a character vector whose elements are the names of matrixes.
Something like this:

"cOki" "dOki" "eOki" "fOki" "gprsOki" "hOki"

Printing from Linux to Win98
I have a printer - an HP 1120c - connected to my wife's Win98 machine.
Occasionally I would like to print to that printer instead of the HP
Laserjet 4+ connected to my Linux machine. Could someone explain a
couple of things for me?
1. I am running Mandrake 6.0. When I start printtool, it complains that
it does not believe Samba is installed. Why and how do I fix?
2. I ignore the message and

Printing to Samba printer causes application to abort
I am using Slackware 10.2 (kernel 2.4.29) and Samba 3.0.21c for my print
server. The client workstations are WinNT4. I have two printers on the
linux server..an HP DeskJet 600 and an Okidata B4250. I can install and
print to the HP from any of the workstations. I can install the Okidata
just fine, but when I try to print from Word, Excell, or any application Dr.

Cupsprinter over samba won't work for w2k clients
Hallo!
I installed Samba 3.0.1 on Deb Woody 3.0 with Cups 1.1.19 and joined to an
NT4 Domain without problems, after solving the "Umlaut" problem.
Unfortunately the System was installed in german...
I read a lot in the Samba HowtoCollection and installed the printer
following to it step by step. Added the printer driver via APW, then
connected from the Client and changed some

Assignment operator and deep copy for calling C functions
...he c function:
dyn.load("test.so")
Let's start with 2 arrays:
a <- rep(0, 5)
b <- rep(1, 5)
Now print the memory addresses:
print(sprintf("a: %s b: %s", tracemem(a), tracemem(b) ))
[1] "a: <0x29d34e0> b: <0x29946e0>"
oky, they are different! Now copy a into b and print again the addresses:
b <- a
print(sprintf("a: %s b: %s", tracemem(a), tracemem(b) ))
[1] "a: <0x29d34e0> b: <0x29d34e0>"
Ugh they are the same. If I now call my C function, which writes 0,1,2,3,4...

SPA2100 sends an unexpected BYE message when transmitting a FAX
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to send a FAX with the following configuration:
Analog FAX machine (OKI) <----->SPA21000<----->LAN<----->Asterisk<--------> PSTN
I'm restricted to use passthru mode for faxing, instead of T.38
protocol, because the Asterisk box is running v1.2 and cannot be
changed as it is in a heavy production environment. Anyway, it
"should"
