Domain Member Server problems
Hi all,
I'm not having any success adding samba (3.0.28 on Solaris 10) to a Windows

googling)

The error is:

DFS redirection to sub-folders beyond share
Hi,
I already posted this to smb-clients, but I believe that is a very low
volume list.
We have a very complicated dfs root. Now I'm not positive that this is
how we should have done things, but it works very well with Windows
clients, so it hasn't been thought about here. This does not work with
smbclient or smbmount. I'm using freshly built smbclient from Samba
3.0.21a.

Which LDAP OID for iphones
Hello,
I'm new to LDAP.
I've read Device class exists (oid 2.5.6.14) in rfc2256.
I've heard a Pluggable Device sub-class (a device with a MAC address) also
exists though I can't find its OID at the moment.
1. Does any standard class specifically defines IP Phones or SIP hardphones
or ATAs or Trunk lines ? What's their OID ?
2. How does one can find by himself if such classes

Rails with postgres-oids?
Hello!
Postgres supports oids which is a unique number for any row in a given
database. There is the ''id'' already inside oids - wouldnt it be nice and
handy to turn on some global environemt.rb or database.yaml magic-switch
and rails uses the oids internally and transparently on the postgresql
adapter, spa...

publishing printer to ADS not working
Hello everybody,
I have run into a problem which I am not able to resolve
by myself :-(
Yesterday I have added a new printer (cups) to a Samba
3.0.28a server. The new printer showed up in the network
neighborhood (Windows XP) and I was able to print to the
new print queue. Then I tried to publish the new printer
to the AD ( we use a windows 2000 server for user
administration and GPOs) with the

troule switching winbind to use a new AD 2008
I have been using 2003 AD servers for winbind for many years, and now
2008 is phasing in, but I can't authenticate using the new servers, and
I'm not sure what to do. All advice very welcome.
This is a problem for me on both Gentoo (samba 3.0.33) and Debian Lenny
(samba 3.0.24).
For debugging, I ran winbind interactively and piped output to a file
(winbindd -d 3 -i).
I have also

SNMP on HP UPS
...ently it chokes when an expected oid is not available on the device
with which it is communicating. (For example ietfmib.h specifies
batt.current at oid 1.3.6.1.2.1.33.1.2.6.0. Our R5500XRs don't have
provide this oid so the snmp driver complains and dies.) It may be
better if it ignored absent oids.
Also the expected data is not always in exactly the same place. For
example the IETF MIB specification states that output voltage should be
at oid 1.3.6.1.2.1.33.1.4.4.1.2.
ietfmib.h is written to get this data from oid
1.3.6.1.2.1.33.1.4.4.1.2.0
Our R5500XRs provide the data at oid 1.3.6.1.2.1.3...

SAMBA ADS integration - windows user account rights
Hi all,
first of all is it possible to join a Linux machine to AD using a
windows user account that is not a member of the group Domain Admins?
Cause when I do this I get the following error while executing `net ads

SNMP and OID/MIB/MRTG
Hi all.
I am having an issue and quite frankly would rather not spend the entire
next two days learning the entire snmp program. I am hoping someone out
there has used MRTG and SNMP to make it work.
I have both installed. Single server, polling itself.
Question 1- does snmpd have to run as a daemon, or only run once so I can
get OID and MIBs from it?
Question 2- does anyone know the command

snmp-ups hacking
Hi all!
I'm wondering if there's anyone doing any hacking on the snmp-ups
driver at the moment.
I've started looking at implementing 3phase-support, and this
uncovered some rather unpleasant stuff in the snmp-ups driver that I
really need to fix in order to get things sane.
Those of you that's allergic to SNMP might want to stop reading now,
this is rather icky ;)

Issue with On Line Status (APC MGE Galaxy 5500 + AP9635CH)
So what would it take me to edit NUT's code for my case to work? My Network
Management Card sends its output state using unfortunately only (I guess
so) this OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1.11.1.1.0
Weirdly the standard way of obtaining Battery Status
(drivers/apc-mib.c) 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1.2.1.1.0
gives me good results.
Unfortunately power status OID's value type differs (my: 64 digits

...2mib structures you can specify several sources for the same
reading name, which allows the same subdriver to "pick the keys" to
different generations of otherwise similar devices. The first (or was it
last?) hit in the table wins, IIRC, so if an actual device exposes some
data in several OIDs (e.g. with different-precision data types, like in
vendor-extended vs. IETF-standard MIBs), the preference ordering may matter.

Install shield error 5006 : 0x8000ffff
Hi
I am running Arch x64.
I have installed Il2-1946which works perfectly. There are some mods I would like to add but cannot install.
When I run 'wine setup.exe' for the mod installer I get the error messages below and a dialogue box telling me that I have the error I reference in the title field.
All I've seen so far is that I should delete the installshield professional folder
