OGG/OGM media container
...ards media formats. Though xiph.org
tells about vorbis/theora/flac/speex, nothing is mentioned about container
to use (that is ogg/ogm). I have a few questions
Is there a difference between ogg and ogm? I guess its only the extension
that is different and everything else is same.
Some tools (like ogmtools) are available to create ogm files. What is
state of that code? It it stable? Is it advisable to start convering my
AVIs to OGMs? ogm specs are final or they will probably change and are not
yet final?
If answer to previous question is yes, why mencoder don't produce ogm? Why
people are still...

Header structure for "video" stream ?
I am writing a tool that gives information on movie files (http://avicodec.duby.info/) and I want to add ogg support.
I have found full of information on ogg file format, vorbis file format, but nothing on the "video" bitstreams that I can found in some ogg files (with XVID movies mixed with vorbis audio for example).
I can see that the "video" structe looks like this, but

Concatenating of OGG Vorbis files (again)
...this
case there are generaly two problems. At first some of the players doesn't
seek correctly (e.g. amarok). And the second problem is that if I have many
files to concatenate (~50) then it takes quite long time for the player to
calculate song length (e.g. winamp 2.x).
I am using ogmcat from ogmtools but there are sometimes glitches in the
resulting file :-(
Is there any other possibility?
Thanks for any help!

help - Theora/Vorbis/Ogg, ogmmerge and ffmpeg2theora
...20 33 20 32 20 30 01 00 00 00 1a |40317 3 2 0.....|
My question (i'm getting to one) is :-
Assuming I've encoded the two streams/files correctly, how can I mux them
together to have a Vorbis/Theora Ogg file ?
Regards,
Ian

All existing tools, as well for matroska file creation as well as for

Carrying non-audio data in an Ogg/Vorbis I stream
Hello,
I would like to "piggy-back" other data in an Ogg/Vorbis I physical stream
(i.e. file) in a manner that does not conflict with specifications and
existing decoders/players/editors etc.
As far as I can see, I have some possible choices:
1 - Chaining a logical bistream at the end. If this is the way to go, two
questions arise to begin with:
q1a - How to identify this stream in a

Analogue artifact estimation
Hi List,
Just batting a few ideas around here, but would it be possible to include in to the codec, estimation for common video artifacts that occur in the analogue world?
For example, anything that's gone through a composite stage will likely have dot-crawl and false colour - if we can recognise this effect in the encoder, we can treat it as a special case.
Other artifacts that come to
