...of the stream to determine the bitrate...so it would seem iffy at best to reliably get the "bitrate" of the stream to perform this calculation...unless I am missing something...And that calculation also might get even more complicated when we are talking about mutliple codec streams (OggTheora+Vorbis)... FWIW, the default size currently set in the config was calculated assuming a 128kbps or less stream and assuming the client buffer size to be that of a default winamp and foobar2000 install. I haven't looked at XMMS, but I would assume that it would coincide to the Winamp/Foobar...

Hello. I'm trying to encode an Ogg Theora file from an unencrypted dvd using mplayer and encoder_example. I set up named pipes stream.wav and stream.yuv. Hi, So it took a little while to get here but VP3 through ffmpeg is finally starting to achieve viewable results. It partially works right now. Keyframes only. And monochrome. Oh, and the picture is upside down (something I did not realize about VP3 until I let it fly just now). Anyway, here is a picture of ffmpeg's VP3 decoder in action using xine:

Hi, If I understand things correctly them Ogg is the wrapper format that is also going to be used for Xiph's upcoming video compressor. Does that mean that the .ogg file extension will also be used for video? This could present problems regarding mapping the .ogg file extension to an application if for example I want audio to be handled by Winamp2 and video by something else.

Hi, The standards for audio and video to be used by the Wikimedia projects (like Wikipedia) are Ogg Vorbis and Ogg Theora. The use of Ogg Vorbis files is growing fast. For now the use of video is still very limited. The problem is that an audio and an video file looks the same because of the same file extension.
