Which branch of the Samba repository has Roland Penny's FSMO patch in it? I want to rebuild my Samba4 server packages so they resemble something reproduceable.

And if the container has a vmdk like virtual box, then serving large file sets from that seems that it would be a problem. I have a Samba-ad-dc node no longer listening on port 135 making it impossible to replicate to it and It is holding up a domain upgrade. I appended the testparam output to give someone a chance to tell me how I mis-configured it. How do I configure my GNU/Linux system to allow users to change their own password? When I type in the passwd command as a domain user it prompts to change the kerberos password but doesn't allow them to change it. I get an error that say password changes may not permitted on this account.

What way do you recommend implementing host based access control? Should I use GPO or LDAP host attribute?

This morning I remapped gidNumber from primaryGroupID to gidNumber. I did that because I could not change the integer in primaryGroupID wit ldbedt as root. I mapped to to a new attribute called gidNumber which has no specific meaning in samba. Is there any potential problems that can arise from doing that. Is there a better way to fix that problem?

I got comfortable enough with Samba on my systems that I agreed to provision Samba for my local Linux Users group. My server runs Debian 7 and theirs runs Centos 7. I installed the samba-dc-4.1.1-37.el7_0.x86_64 package, ldb-tools.x86_64 0:1.1.16-4.el7, and samba-client-4.1.1-37.el7_0.x86_64 packages on their Centos 7.
