Offscreen rendering in RGL?
Hi there,
I've written a script for reading 3D simulation data into R, rendering
it using RGL, and then saving the resulting plot using the
snapshot3d() function. The results are fantastic! However, whenever
RGL plots anything it automatically brings the viewing window into
focus. Since I'm producing a large number of plots in a loop, my
machine becomes almost unusable for the

WinXP exhibits sluggish graphics window movement & mouse tracking (repainting?) over windows graphics devices
...owdown), but the behavior starts after a
"plot(rnorm(100))". The slowdown seems to depend on the area of the R
graphics window that is visible. The slowdown also occurs when moving
the plot window. For example, if the graphics window is frontmost,
and I want to move it until it is mostly offscreen, then the movement
is jerky. However, once the window is mostly offscreen, dragging it
back onto the screen is smooth and fast. (When I drag windows, I only
see the frame, not the contents.) This seems to affect SDI and MDI
modes. The Windows task manager confirms that when the plot window is

OpenGL issues on OSX (wine 1.3.21)
I just compiled 1.3.21 on OSX using the osxwinebuilder script. It's the first time I try wine on the Mac.
I've tried some short OpenGL demos and they work, but others fail. Remarkable ones that fail are wxWidgets OpenGL demos (remarkable because the source is available, so I guess it should be easy to fix).
I run OSX 10.6.7.
While running the wxWidgets "penguin" demo, the

when i try to run virtualbox, it fails with this message:

could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

I tried doing dnf reinstall vbox stuff, again, no reported problems, but
I get the same result.

graphic glitch around menu/toolbars
...a Core 3 (fc3) system and currently
wine-20041201-1fc3winehq with a default config file. When I run windows
applications there is a transparent border around the menubar and all toolbars
appx 5 pixels thick. This transparent border will not draw, therefore if you
do something like move the window offscreen then back again, it will be filled
with bad pixels from the background. This makes windows apps appear very ugly.
I've tried wine under gnome and kde and still have this problem.
I googled it a bit but I really have no idea what terminology to google for.
Is this a known issue and can I res...

Two patches for Snap
...eckbox in ccsm has no effect because Snap treats
any window with struts as an edge, and all windows have struts. I think it
should be a test for dock windows.
(2) Windows don't snap to the left edge because it has been erased. The
right edge doesn't seem to get erased because it is slightly offscreen, so I
did the same thing with the left. I don't know if that is exactly the right
solution, but at least it works.
Patches are attached.
Thanks,
Jay

Window Scrolling on OSX
I think this has been noted in previous posts by others, but I'm
noticing it with post-version 1 builds of Darwine for OSX and I'm
wondering if there's any way to fix it.
The behavior is hard to describe but here goes: when using either
Irfanview or Forte Agent, mouse activity in the Windows app causes the
window to move downward on the desktop. Each click, the windows jumps

compiz composited video and alpha only GLX pixmaps
...he compiz video plugin will scale and perform necessary colorspace
conversions when compositing the desktop.
It provides very efficient playback of video on a composited desktop and
it requires much less resources than e.g. XVideo as no intermediate
buffer is required and hence also no accelerated offscreen rendering.
RGB and YV12 image formats are currently supported but it's of course
very easy to add support for additional formats.
YV12 format requires GL_ARB_fragment_program and 8 bpp alpha only GLX
pixmap support. The server doesn't provide alpha only pixmaps today. The

Gaming support with different hardware vendors (esp. ATI)
Hi all!
I recently got an ATI Radeon HD 3850 card and now noticed that with the
fglrx driver many games that look well in AppDB do not run properly on
this hardware (Supreme Commander ingame: flickering static garbage, Prince
of Persia SoT has several issues that completely garble ingame graphics).
Older games (not using shaders among other things) seem to run fine - need
to do more testing

Converting HTML into an Image
I have this challenge of converting a bit of html into an image file
and then shrinking it into a thumbnail. The shrinking part shouldn''t
be too bad, but what advice can you give on converting the html to the
image? My thinking is that I will need to convert it to postscript or
latex and then convert it to an image from there. Is there an easier
/ better approach?
