R-Forge?
Hello! I have recently found RForge.net (http://www.rforge.net/) by Simon Urbanek and found out today that the site is accepting subscriptions. Great! However, browsing a bit on the site I found a link to another forge: R-Forge (http://r-forge.r-project.org/). Is/will the last one be the "offcial" forge for R packages, given that it has domain r-project.org? Regards, Gregor

Samba, Debian and upgrade path...
Yesterday, after a long run, i've finally upgraded my DCs to stretch/samba4.9, using Louis repos. Hurrah! ;-) Looking forward, eg: http://apt.van-belle.nl/debian/dists/ seems to me that i can advance to 4.10 in stretch, but to go further i need buster (probably because of python deps, right?). Louis, i think we need a matrix of debian-samba compatibility... ;-) -- dott. Marco Gaiarin

apc deemon
Hi, I'm using Centos 5 (64bit) and connected an APC battery to the server and used the USB cable for monitoring this setup, but I can't find the apc daemon anymore in the offcial yum repo's. Has aocd become obsolete and has it been replaced by something else or do i need to add a third party repo? kind regards, euroka -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Problems after upgrading from 1.0.7 to 1.0.8
...p (5.216.18.5 port 655) 1227111771 tinc.jan[10406]: Node Philipp (5.216.18.5 port 655) is not reachable Is there any change to configuration files I've to consider? I've not changed anything on any side and did not find any hint what to change so far. The client IP logged by tinc is the offcial one, not the one inside the VPN, I guess this is correct? Also routing and firewall rules (iptables) seems to be OK to me. tinc and the box has been restarted several times before and was running stable for years until now. I guess this is a common issue and easy to fix. Any help? TiA, Jan

winbind - frequent high CPU utilization
Hi. I use winbind + squid on Debian Buster to authenticate users + authorize them based on groups they are in. It all works, well, good, but winbind's CPU utilization peaks can reach up to 100%. The same solution ran OK on Debian Jessie with up to 20% CPU utilization at most. The configuration of Buster must have been updated based on the samba version leap/shift compared to Jessie. On

A comment about R:
...often feels like there is an assumption that readers are also experts in R. I often found the documentation for R quite sparse and many essential terms or constructs were used but not defined or cross-referenced. While there are mailing lists regarding R where people can ask questions, there is no offcial "technical support". Because R is free and is based on the contributions of the R community, it is extremely extensible and programmable and I have been told that it has many cutting edge features, some not available anywhere else. Although R is free, it may be more costly in terms of you...
