Outlook Express with XP...
Dovecot 2.0.9 I am able to connect successfully with Thunderbird, Win 8, Apple Mail, iPhone, iPad. Outlook Express on Win XP receives just fine, but will not send. I get a "Client host rejected: Access denied? message. I believe this is simply Postfix telling me the connection isn?t properly authenticated, as setting up the exact same credentials on another client (non OE) works. It is

Any news with the MS OE "Headers only" problem?
Hello. About year ago I tested OE and dovecot imap and met this problem (http://wiki.dovecot.org/Clients#head-129bcbfc238b5c34362b8216db87c05e7a34af85) - Using "Headers only" synchronization is buggy and can cause "Message is no longer available on this server" error when opening a mail. I configured OE to sync All messages, and it worked, but then it's acts like pop3 and

New Dovecot installation and OE not POPing problems
Greetings: Recently I converted my mailserver to Postfix with some local accounts being accessed via Dovecot and POP3S. The clients are OE. The users are reporting that they aren't getting their messages. In the past with my old (IW?) POP server, I just used mail -f /var/spool/user and deleted the "DO NOT DELETE THIS MESSAGE...." message #1 and this cleared any problems with

OE pop3 > imap subfolder migration?
Hello. This isn't actually a dovecot question, but I'm running in clienys servers dovecot mostly as pop3 server and now started to migrate some servers to imap. But as clients uses Outlook Express how to transfer their pop3 settings and mailboxes to imap?. Making a new mail account for imap is easy, and drag & drop the default folders (inbox, outbox etc) messages to imap accounts

Confused about proxying and NAT, and seeking guidance
...telco network anywhere, not at this stage anyway. I see that as a separate issue. I have a number of organisational entities (oe), each of which has their own Internet domain presence (alice.com, bob.com, claude.com, etc). Each oe has a similar structure of a Linux based Internet gateway which does NAT/firewall/routing for the private subnets that connect to it. Let us assume, in each oe, that the user clients are on the 192.168.x.y subnet behind the gateway, and that they can establish outbound access to the Internet but permit no inbound access to be established. They also have access to...

LDAP Server configs

synonyms
Hi, Using ferret and acts_as_ferret. Great work. Is there a way to define some synonyms (searchable words that would not appear in the texts ? Like stop words, but instead of being removed from query and index, they would be added ;-) Can some synonyms be regexp ? I''d like for instance to have ? (oelig) be equivalent to oe in French. Or maybe an utf8 normalization could achieve

Cross Compiling Samba 4.0.6 for ARM increases size of binaries
Hi, I have cross-compiled just the basic samba 4.0.6 using bitbake recipe for ARM, which succeeded. However the resulting binaries are large in size. I used the exact same configuration options in both the cases. There is at least a 10 fold increase in the smbd compared to native x86. --- Native x86 ---- -rwxr-xr-x 1 pranavd users 92979 May 31 10:57 /usr/sbin/smbd -rwxr-xr-x 1 pranavd users

Nested Virtualization not working
...rt on the host and created a fedora23 guest with virt-manager using host-passthrough as the cpu model. The guest comes up fine and was updated without issues. Now if I install VirtualBox 5.0 and try to start a vm (fedora 23 again) I end up with a protection fault in the console (below) and the vm does not boot. A similar fault appeared when trying with a centos7.2 guest and a ubuntu vm but in that case just after the fault the guest reboots itself. What could be the problem here? Any help is very appreciated. Thanks, Daniel [ 77.538312] general protection fault: 0000 [#1] SMP [ 77.539235...

PDC: Logging out from Windows XP SP2 takes a long time
I have samba set up as primary domain controller, and have problems with my Windows XP SP2 machines. Logging in is quick, but most of the time (nine out of ten times) the logout process takes a long time - I do end up rebooting, but once I let it stay and it took a whole hour before it was logged out. It seems to act the same way for all users. Possible sources already eliminated: - I have

inetd & corrupt environment
...o tried running pop3-login from tcpserver/ucspi-tcp and I still get the same error. Version 1.0.1 works fine on a similar setup. Please reply if you have any idea regarding a fix for this error. I need to run dovecot under a tcp wrapper of some kind (preferably inetd) as the standalone daemon doesn't allow any method to restrict access by IP. The allow_nets extra field doesn't help much as I'm using PAM and do not want to maintain yet another passdb. Restricting access via firewall rules is not an option. Until I find a way to restrict access by IP address, dovecot will only...

nmap not scanning networks?
Hello! Attempt to scan a network with any method except plain ping results in an error: truss nmap -sT -p 21 '172.19.17.*' [...] sendto(0x4,0x8094200,0,0x0,{ AF_INET 172.19.17.0:0 },0x10) ERR#49 'Can't assign requested address' [...] What's strange that man on send(2) doesn't state that EADDRNOTAVAIL can ever be returned from sendto(). Quick look at nmap's site didn't show me any clues. However, I've reproducted the problem under both 5.2.1 and 4.8 releases. Do I have all my boxes broken, or should I rebuild kernel with some options, or does nmap be...

Namespace, prefix questions
...t some users who are using Outlook Express version 6. The client allows me to specify the root folder, but not a prefix or namespace. I'm still struggling with some users on our new server that have crazy imap folder layouts, so I've got a few questions. When I specify the root folder, does that bypass any namespace/prefix definitions on the imap server? On some clients, like Thunderbird, I have the option of specifying namespace OR prefix. How do these differ? I thought that the prefix was the "name" of the namespace. It appears that I have to delete and re-create the...

My data looks like this for the moment; 0-39 12 34 43 40-49 14 23 23 50-59 16

OES Samba question
...terprise Server from Novell and have been migrating to Samba. We have ran into an issue where occasionally a user will click on a directory and it will just sit there forever with an hour glass or flashlight. If you go to the same directory through a command prompt and do a dir on the directory it goes into a continuous loop and reads the contents of the directory over and over again. We are running samba-3.0.20b-3.14 and I was curious if anyone else had seen this problem. Thanks, Jordan
