Multiple imputation with plausible values already in the data
Hello, this is not really an R-related question, but since the posting guide does not forbid asking non-R questions (even encourages it to some degree), I though I'd give it a try. I am currently doing some secondary analyses of the PISA (http://pisa.oecd.org) student data. I would like to treat missing values properly, that is using multiple imputation (with the mix package). But I am not sure how to do the imputation, since the data set provided by the OECD already contains variables with plausible values. Roughly, the situation is like this: for...

The Future of R | API to Public Databases
...nterface to access (and analyze) all public data in the easiest way possible. That would create a real impact, would put R a big leap forward and would enable us to see the world with different eyes. There is a lack of a direct connection to the API of these databases, to name a few: - Eurostat - OECD - IMF - Worldbank - UN - FAO - data.gov - ... The ease of access to the data is the key of information processing with R. How can we handle the flow of information noise? R has to give an answer to that with an extensive API to public databases. I would love your comments and ideas as a contribu...

In SPSS the command would be "WEIGHT BY" In simpler words here is an R sample ( What is get VS what i want to get ) > data.recieved <- data.frame( + kindergarten_a...

correlation and causality examples
Dear All, I'am looking for examples showing that correlation does not imply causality, the targeted audience consists of undergraduate students (their first year at the university but in the BioMathStat track). All practicals are under R. I was able to extract this from R datasets: ### begin data(sunspots) data(lynx) spots <- window(sunspots, freq = 1, start = 1880, end = 1900) lnx <-
