Looking for help on 2 items...
I am pretty new to Dtrace but use the Dtrace Toolkit when trying to troubleshoot I/O issues On Oracle. I am looking for help on how to do the following: I am trying to answer whether adding more HBA Cards/ports would be effective. To do this, I need to know the i/o''s per second As well as total bandwidth per second. Has anyone done this before? Does anyone have any other ideas on how

WiFi Phones (was Looking for Wireless Heaset for Polycom 501)
Martin: I had seen your other post and sent you a message off-list, but I never got a response. What do you feel is the most lacking that does not make it ready for a production enviroment. - I've been using a SIP deskphone in my office and usually some sort of ATA at my house, both as the primary phone. I've also had mobile phones from almost every carrier. Each one of these devices

NUT supports new VID/PID
Hello, and thanks for the clarifications. As described, the change does not seem to be too complex on the NUT project's side, the PR posted below took about an hour with some research and this write-up, so I'm not sure I can put a price tag on it :) A donation at https://opencollective.com/networkupstools or https://github.com/sponsors/networkupstools would be welcome though, more so a

Best wifi IP phone for asterisk
We're looking at a large wifi phone deployment, and we're looking for wifi phones that: 1. Are SIP compliant (Asterisk friendly) 2. Provision capable (ideally TFTP of own MAC address) 3. Industrial quality (no cheap plastic stuff). 4. Well documented (and none of the "only telco's get documentation" crap) Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks, MD -------------- next

[PATCH] RFC: ACPI / OSI: remove workarounds for hybrid graphics laptops
...ed-by: Alex Hung <alex.hung at canonical.com> >> > > By any chance, do you have a list of systems implementing those workarounds? > I don't keep a list but the workaround, in theory, should only apply to the systems with the specific nvidia hardware. I reminded OEMs and ODMs that these _OSI strings were temporary solutions, and highlighted we were going to remove them after our discussion last year. If they were paying attentions recent systems shouldn't have these _OSI strings. -- Cheers, Alex Hung

building a phone
Hi folks A common wisdom here is that one should use a proper hardware phone rather that an extra software on the user's PC. Why is that such a big issue? One thing that bothers me with the current crop of hardware SIP phones is that they are hopelessly properitary. So what would it take to build a fully-adaptable phone? Here are some of my thoughts. This is not anything I plan to do soon

Christmas mail
Dear NUT users and developers, A bit later than usual, here is the traditional end of the year mail to sum up the past year, think about the future and make some announcements. Those of you who have followed closely the project already know: 2008 has been a harder year than ever. And the UPS world has somehow finished a full revamp cycle, started 2 years ago! * A new sponsor: Last year,

OT: Replacing Venerable NAS
I have an original-label Infrant (now NetGear) ReadyNAS storage appliance that's been running for 8+ years. Except for replacing its power supply, it has not skipped a beat in all this time. I use it primarily as a backup device (via NFS) for a couple of Linux machines, (via SMB) for a couple of Windows PC's, and (via ftp) for web sites at my hosting provider. SMART+ reporting shows

US T1 Hangup Detection
We are in the process of preparing to move our Asterisk server to a Digital T1 interface card instead of a analog card (via an Adtran which is now connected to the T1). I did a preliminary test the other day and hooked the T1 line up to the T1 card, bypassing the Adtran. This worked rather well I must say. The two issues I ran into are: 1) Caller ID is not working even though I enabled

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking
