UNDI packet driver?
Hi all,
I'm still trying to figure out a good way of booting a DOS disk image
via PXE and accessing files over a network share.
Having some success with the Microsoft network DOS client, it seems that
many programs have issues with its IPX support - so, now I'm trying to
use Novell's IPX driver instead. Unfortunately it seems I need an ODI
driver to do this, and there are no

Help with GSM or CDMA hardware on CentOS and SMSTools question please
...ough the Aircard is picked up as a usb device and has a driver in
the kernel, it does not have a /dev/XXX device name. So my question is
how do I create this /dev/XXX device and make it persistent.
I have installed CentOS as my base with smstools-3.0.10-4.el5.i386.rpm
as my application.
[root at odie ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS release 5.2 (Final)
[root at odie ~]# uname -rvpi

[root at odie ~]# rpm -qa | grep smstools
smstools-3.0.10-4.el5
The config file for this software looks like this

searching with chinese chars
Hi all,
maybe not a Ferret question, but I assume here might have came across
that already.
I wrote a simple CGI app that adds docs into a Ferret index. The idea
is testing asian languages input and searching.
The script that does the input seems to be OK. As David mentioned in a
question I made a little while ago, Ferret''s index is agnostic, in the
sense that you can store anything in

Re: Does 3.0 work with w2k sp3 and/or win 2003? Anyb ody had success?
Hi all:
I'd like to know if (and if so by when) Samba will be able to run as an
Windows 2000 server (Active Directory Server) in itself..?
Is that scheduled in future plans at all ?
I read Samba 3 can run as a member server, but I'd like to know if I can
hold on my migration from NT4 projects, until I can have a Samba only
network..?
Thanks in advance for any feedback,
Carlos

Samba 2.0 stuff for a newbie
...unning Samba on my linux box at work, but i
thought i would ask some basic questions:
David Bandel suggested i upgrade to 2.0, so i did..:)
Now, what i want to do is the following:
Be able to access the linux box from a 95/98 or NT workstation, now i know
this can be done since my box "odie" showed up in the network neighborhood
list on a few machines, but i couldn't log into it if i double clicked on
"odie"...can someone give me a few pointers? (I don't have a printer
attached to the linux box, if that makes it easier)...

Using memdisk to remotely flash BIOS
I am using memdisk to remotely flash the BIOS and other firmware. It works well
for most flash programs. After the flash I need to initialize the NIC to send a
signal to my management server that the flash is complete.
I am curious as to how others have solved this problem.
Thanks.

index returns all results for specific queries
Hey all,
I''m getting some really weird results when searching documents. It
*seems* to be somehow related to the document format I''m using.
I wrote a small script to replicate it:
################
#!/usr/bin/ruby
require ''rubygems''
require ''ferret''
include Ferret
index = Index::Index.new(:path => ''/tmp/fooindex'', :key

system wakeup caused by write operations to /var/lib/dovecot/instances
...enable/disable the automatic instance_update_now action and/or set the
timeout by the user.
In the meanwhile I can use the recompiled version with this code change.
Problem solved for me.

wildcard fields
Hey all,
is there a way to wildcard field searches? As in:
- a document like {:title => ''foo'', :description1 => ''bar'',
:description2 => ''bar2''}
I''d search:
index.search("description*: search query")
I understand the example above is silly, but it''s enough to make the
question understandable :-)

Rating application for Asterisk
Does anyone knows a working FOSS rating application for Asterisk? I
tried CDRTool, but since it's free for non commercial use, it won't
suit me. Also I gave a shot at Trabas (the one everybody says it
sucks), but I couldn't understand how does it pull records from
Asterisk's CDR table.

Ferret Wiki Spam - Solutions Anyone?
Hi All,
As some of you may have noticed, the Ferret Wiki has been getting
spammed like crazy. And I haven''t been able to do anything about it
because I just don''t have the time. I''m getting pretty close to
releasing 0.10.0 which has been the major draw on my time for the last
couple of months so I''m going to have some time to look into this
soon. I was

"map to guest = bad password" not working as expected
Hi all,
I had been trying to use "map to guest = bad password" to map users
from other domains to guest to allow only guest access. But when I try
to access the samba server from another domain, I get an error saying
that it is not authorized from that machine. I am attaching the
smb.conf. Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong.
