fitCopula
I am using R 2.5.0 on windows XP and trying to fit copula. I see the
following code works for some users, however my code crashes on the
chol. Any suggestions?
> mycop <- tCopula(param=0.5, dim=8, dispstr="ex", df=5)
> x <- rcopula(mycop, 1000)
> myfit <- fitCopula(x, mycop, c(0.6, 10), optim.control=list(trace=1),

Simple Install of x86_64 CentOS 5 is failing
It gets all the way through the install, and then when it reboots,
grub can't find the kernel. Grub can't find the kernel because the
kernel was not instaled for some reason? I looked at the box through
rescue mode and in /boot there is no kernel.
Any ideas what might have happened?
Cheers...james

Unwanted Levels in R
I searched the mailing list archives and found one post relevant to my problem,
but it was not specific enough to solve my problem.
I am reading in a large file of data (I believe it is in ASCII format). I have tried
reading the file in as a data frame and as a list, and both methods result in
unwanted levels being created which leads to problems when I try to copy
or reference certain cells.

Using raid 1 for rollback purposes
Hi All,
For quite some time I've used raid 1 as a means of providing a
rollback mechanism for an upgrade (which I learned from others long
ago). So essentially, before an upgrade you split the mirrors and
upgrade one side or the other. If your upgrade goes well you sync one
way, if your upgrade does not you sync the other (much hand waving and
chanting going on, as its more complicated than

/dev/console not getting created...
Hi All,
I've been trying to put together a one off CentOS 4 based distro, and
I ran into some trouble. First off just so you know we've been doing
this with CentOS 3 and with RedHat 9 before that, so the inexperience
is only with the delta between CentOS 3 and CentOS 4 (and RHEL 3 and
RHEL 4 by extension).
Anyway, the problem is that for some reason /dev/console is not
getting created.

Hanging ssh session...
Hi All,
I am not sure if this is the same thing as the hang on exit bug, so sorry if
this is a duplication of previous stuff.
Essetntially I am experiencing ssh hangs with about .5% - 1% of my
connections. I am running 2.9p2, on Solaris 7. I actually have empirical
data on the hangings, as I wrote a script to create these connections
in an endless loop, setting an alarm so I could recover

Autorollback Patches for CentOS 4 RPM
Hi all,
For anyone interested, I have just ported James Oden's
Autorollback/Autorollback-goal RPM patches to the version of RPM present
inside of CentOS 4.
The patched RPMs, SRPM and raw patches can be found online here:
http://hackers.progeny.com/~sam/RPM-Autorollback/
Specifically, you can find those for CentOS 4 here:

propagate sip reinvites with directrtpsetup=yes
is there a trick to get asterisk (1.6.2.13) to propagate
codec-changing sip reinvites when directrtpsetup=yes?
i'm trying to route calls to a gateway without keeping asterisk in the
rtp stream.
the gateway is first routing the call to a media server. when
connecting the call to the downstream carrier a different codec is
selected.
the reinvite makes it to asterisk but asterisk isn't

RedHat + XP workgroup
{Sorry for long post)
I'm attempting to set up a workgroup share on a RedHat 7.3 box (Samba
2.2.5-1) for a network of Windows XP Pro machines. These machines also
log into a Novell Netware 4.11 server (Client32 4.83e) for email, so I
don't want to set up another domain controller (for more logins) on this
network (academic K-12, lot of teachers and elementary kids).

RPM .spec files in NUT source tree
All,
Arnaud and I were discussing the *.spec files we have in the NUT
source tree, and with the 2.4.0 release of NUT just around the corner,
I would like to make sure we are pointing people in the right
direction for NUT RPMs.
Currently, we have *.spec files for "generic-rpm" (has a few macros
for RedHat 6.x and 7.x), Mandriva (circa NUT 2.0.2), openSUSE, and
RedHat (apparently from

Centos-4 Kernel pannic
Hi all,
We are running a new Centos-4 server, and it has kernel panicked on us 4
times in the last month. After the first kernel panic we hooked up a
serial console to the server and captured the output in order to have a
record of what happens. I've included the error messages from the last
time it locked up... but it doesn't really mean much to me. Anybody have
any ideas what might be

It's all speculation at this point. But there are _several_ factors.
But I'm sure the first time Intel saw AMD's x86-64/PAE52 presentation,
the same thing popped into my mind that popped

Fwd: [Rpm-devel] rpm-4.4.3-0.34 for CentOS3
If anyone would like to help test the latest RPM on Centos 3, heres
your chance. There are several new features that are not mentioned
in Jeff's email, but as he said he wants to make sure it does no harm
more than anything else. As an example though, this version
supports:
- runtime depedency checking (think of being able to have cpan

Reconstructing duplicate lvm
Hi All,
Basically, I have an upgrade script for a system that breaks md mirrors and
then constructs a chroot from the broken off members (i.e in this case
partitions on /dev/sdb) and does the upgrade in this chroot. The end result
is that until the reboot applications on this system can remain running
while the chroot is being updated (much hand waving at this point).
This works fine if LVM

swiotlb causing panics on 8gig ia32e systems running Centos 3.4 x86_64
Hi All,
I have several ia32e systems with 8 gig that panic on install and first boot.
The panic is arch/x86_64/swiotlb.c (working from memory so I might be
a bit off) and its in the routine that I think is trying to allocate
another chunk of memory for
the "Software I/O Translation Buffer". I am guessing it needs to
allocate contiguous chunks of memory and that is why it fails on the
