...with compiler optimization. The iPAQ 3970 (PXA250, I think this is a 400mhz cpu?) is just fast enough for realtime encoding - the Speex encode function takes 20+ ms to encode one 20ms sample frame without compiler optimizations, but with compiler optimizations and tracing removed, only on occaisional tests did I notice gaps in the stream. My experiments were done with 1 channel, 16 bit, 8000hz samples, using Speex quality 3 and complexity 4. <p><p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To u...

Question on best way of configuring this
.... I sometimes play older games on it (eg Carmaggedon or Worms 2; I'm not into Warcrack, or City Of Heros or anything that needs a super-duper gaming card). I also have an aging Linux machine. This is my main workstation, although I primarily access it as a server (ssh into it, screen). I do occaisionally use the console as an X display, eg when scanning stuff or previewing my nroff documents before sending them to the printer. This machine has all my email, runs leafnode etc etc. What I'd like to do is run them both as virtual instances on a new machine (quad core duo) I've ordered. Wha...

log file spewing on one node, but not the others
we have an older 2+1 arbiter gluster cluster running 6.10? on Ubuntu18LTS It has run beautifully for years. Only occaisionally needing attention as drives have died, etc Each peer has two volumes. G1 and G2 with a shared 'gluster' network. Since July 1st one of the peers for one volume is spewing the logfile /var-lib-G1.log with the following errors. The volume (G2) is not showing this nor are there issue wi...

Zultys ZIP2
...isk, along with some other troubles in general. I keep getting a "Got SIP response 481 "Call Leg/Transaction Does Not Exist" back from x.x.x.x). Even when Asterisk reports that the ZIP2 registered correctly, I can't make any calls out from the phone, or calls into the phone. Occaisionally I get a busy tone when I try to dial also. This is the entry for the ZIP2 in sip.conf [phone10] type=friend username=phone10 host=dynamic dtmfmode=rfc2833 mailbox=110 context=sip Incidentally, when I place the ZIP2 in a local subnet 192.168.0.x, the web interface for the phone is quick. But...

Samba lock up under Solaris 2.5.1
On our most heavilly loaded Samba server (running 1.9.18p10 under Solaris 2.5.1) we have got occaisional meltdowns with load average rocketing to 100+. The evidence indicates lots of smbd processes running. Syslogs indicate lots of: Nov 12 12:48:35 zeus.brunel.ac.uk smbd[21572]: Failed to set socket option SO_KE EPALIVE Nov 12 12:48:35 zeus.brunel.ac.uk smbd[21572]: Failed to set socket option T...

7.2 might have ate my partition table.
Well I thought someone might be interested in this. I have a Compaq server with a cpq array in a raid 5 configuration with some bog standard video card no sound card, NO X installed, no applications/modules not included with the distro, and 256 megs of memory. I upgraded it (yes I know not supported but...) from Roswell to 7.2 in the middle of last week and installed all applicable errata

rsync is slowing down
...ceiving side, which is also the initiating side, I could have it learn when the last time it fulling completed syncronizing, and re-run that date as well as any subsequent dates, rather than the entire tree (which could easily reach a quarter million files or more per year). But I have one catch. Occaisionally, an older file is updated. And that older file needs to be syncronized as well. The receiving/initiating side won't know whether an old file is, or is not, updated. What I think would be an improvement in rsync speed in this scenario, and some similar ones where lots of tree branches are n...

Anyone know of a pass through ATA
Anyone know of a company that makes a pass through ATA? By pass through I mean have an Ethernet switch built into the ATA, like most desktop phones have. All of the dual ethernet ATA's I have seen have WAN/LAN ports, not two LAN ports. I fooled around with DMZ etc...but it just doesn't work as well. ...owing in the footsteps of Perzl because: a) Michael Perzl does an excellent job of keeping the AIXTOOLBOX where it should be - no need to replicate that b) I hate the RPM dependency nightmare (e.g., installing three rpm -dev packages just to get 5 include files) c) The RPM.spec files often (well occaisionally, but once is once too many for me) overwrite AIX/IBM installp files - so updates of one damage the other d) RPM and NIM did not work as well as NIM and INSTALLP Almost end of soapbox --- In AIX 5.2 IBM included a tool called mkinstallp. I have a tool around that - that I call buildaix - that...

UNEXPECTED SOFT UPDATE INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY

Ok, so I ran fsck manually (even with -y), but yet it refuses to clear/fix whatever to the questions posed as fsck runs. What does this all mean?
