http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/08/04/2212251&tid=158&tid=95&tid=103 Probably some of you already saw this. Now, beyond discussions regarding the legitimacy of such a ruling (whether they have the legal, moral or whatever right to enforce it), there's the technical aspect. Suppose i provide VoIP services using Asterisk, and i fall under the incidence of the FCC ruling

how to configure a FreeBSD firewall to pass IPSec?
I have a FreeBSD box acting as a firewall and NAT gateway I would like to set it up to transparently pass IPSec packets -- I have an IPSec VPN client running on another machine, connecting to a remote network. Is there a way to do this? I can't find any hints in the man pages.

AD Functional Level vs very old SaMBa member server
Dear All! There is a very old (SaMBa 3.2.5 on Debian 6.0.9) Active Directoy MEMBER fileserver at my workplace. Our Forest/Domain Functional Level is at the lowest possible (Windows 2000), and we can't postpone raising it anymore. I've read at Microsoft's "Understanding Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) Functional Levels" page that "functional levels do not

How to Print A Document Only
I am using PDF::writer to convert text to pdf files for printing. What I would like to do is to be able to print it without allowing the user to be able to read the files in pdf. What options do I have ? If I send the files directly to the printer will I have difficulty down the road with formatting text or embedding pictures in the printable document? Is there some workaround where I make the

parkcall: How to remove announcement.
Hello all, I want to park calls using the callpark application, but I don't want to hear the saydigit when the called is parked. To resolve this issue I use the following instruction in the dialplan: exten => _8XX,1,ParkAndAnnounce(|1000|local/10 at default|) Because local/10 at default is not defined to a peer I get a lot of warnings. :( Is there a better way to resolve this

Unable to figure out why a photo attribute of the paperclip plugin is not being passed in as a param
Hello all, I am trying to implement a feature in my app where a user posts a message along with an image. This is something similar to what is there in `www.diasp.org` . I dealing with a pretty much outdated configuration of Rails 2.0.2 and Ruby 1.8.7 , both running on Ubuntu 10.04 OS for project specific purposes. Initially, I found a problem in finding an appropriate plugin for paperclip

Issue with concatenation of URL losing
a) you need to read the help pages on the paste function... more likely you are looking for the paste0 function because extra spaces will most likely break the GET request format. b) quotes do not become "stuck" as \" ... that is a visual representation intended to clarify that that quote is not terminating the string but is actually part of it. If you want to see the contents

missing X11 graphics title bar
I have on occasion had the problem of missing title bars on X11 graphics windows when using R, and would like to know what others have found in terms of the occurance, source, or solution of this problem. In searching for information on this I found only the brief thread from last November which I have copied below. Anyone who has experienced this knows it brings a very unwelcome interruption to

[LLVMdev] technical debt
FWIW, I'm putting together (hopefully to be done by the end of this weekend) a substantial refactoring of the TableGen backend API along with shiny new documentation (reStructuredText with sphinx) of all of TableGen, including documentation about how to write backends and---depending on how adventurous I get---a more detailed coverage of the syntax. Also, Reed, in your TableGen talk, IIRC,

The answer on a latest Will's question lies in > different area. The reason we (Peter and I) care about this isn't because we enjoy being obstructive. It's because there is a whole load of core (i.e. portable) kernel code that is written to the *kernel* memory model. For example, the scheduler, RCU, mutex implementations, perf, drivers, you name it. Consequently, it's important that the architecture back-ends implement these portable pr...
