Hi, I''m currently trying to understand in detail how zfs send and zfs diff work. While reading traverse_visitbp() I noticed that all data is read with dsl_read except for objsets, where dsl_read_nolock is used. IIRC, uncorrectable bitrot even in a nonessential file detected by ZFS used to cause a kernel panic. Bug ID 4924238 was closed with the claim that bitrot-induced panics is not a bug, but the description did mention an open bug ID 4879357, which suggests that it''s considered a bug after all. I have a huge problem with space maps on thumper. Space maps takes over 3GB and write operations generates massive read operations. Before every spa sync phase zfs reads space maps from disk.
